"I was so fortunate to have the DOTD guys with me after I experienced a very scary blowout - on the right front tire of my RV. It happened around 2pm on November 8, 2023. After wrestling it to the side of I-10 (2 miles west of the Mississippi River bridge), it was terrifying to be so close to all the traffic whizzing by just inches from me. Within five minutes, a DOTD truck pulled up with lights flashing, and put out cones and flares to keep me safe. He stayed with me, waiting for my ‘rescue’ to show up, but thanks to my insurance company letting me down (Thanks, ‘Flo’) nobody was ever actually coming. I was in that scary spot for six hours, and the DOTD people never left me. Even through shift changes, they waited for the next person to show up to stay with me. I had to find my own rescue, and was put in touch with Total Tire Solutions (huge shout out to them, too!). After my tire was changed, the DOTD guys made a path for me to get my 40’ RV and towed car back into the traffic lane and escorted me off the highway and made sure I was in a safe spot for the night. I feel like those four men saved my life - it could have been so much worse without their lights, cones and flares - I can’t thank them enough. The First Gentleman who showed up, I’m not sure of his name, but the next couple of shifts, Jake, Tim and Roger took over, and they couldn’t have been nicer!! Thank you - all four of you - so much!!"
"If poorly maintained sections of interstate highway are your thing, look no further than interstate 10 and 20 in Louisiana. Hands down some of the worst roads I've ever driven on. If I could give zero stars I would"
"Every person in this building needs to lose their job"
"There’s a mandatory evacuation and the highway department and state police are nonexistent failing the population making a reasonable evacuation. I would think this would be a major responsibility other that repairing roads and giving tickets. They need to step up their game and do a real public service."
"Every time I've come to the office with a concern it has been addressed with politeness. I've also really found that their notices on the 511 app are very helpful in planning my day. Great job!"
