"After my obgyn, whom I adored, left general practice and moved to teaching, I scrambled to find a new one and landed on Dr. Laguaite, the photo in her info section made me feel at ease so I booked an appointment. I feel as though Dr. Laguaite would be a great Dr. for one specific type of women, that is one that is”traditional” and “conservative.” Considering I’m none of these, I was extremely uncomfortable during my appointment. Dr. Laguaite made me feel incredibly judged. She really made me feel like I wasn’t and ideal candidate to have a child based on my past obgyn history which included an elective abortion over 12 years ago. She also asked me questions about a scar on my arm during my breast exam and inquired whether or not it was “self induced.” She also terrified me by pressuring me to conceive within the year because “my time is running out.” I was 37 at the time…. Anyway, it gets worse. Afterwards I really took to heart what she said about how my “time was running out” and that “at least I was trying this year and not next year when I’m 38.” I felt the pressure and went ahead and conceived despite not wanting to for another year. I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks on an at home test. I called the next day to schedule an appointment which they gave me at 8 weeks. I called back to explain that I needed to be seen asap because I am high risk due to a previous ectopic pregnancy. The earliest they scheduled me for was 6 weeks. I was really unhappy about that and looked to get a sonogram privately. That didn’t pan out so I had my hcg drawn, on weds and Friday before my appointment on the following Tuesday. Per the results I could see that my hcg was not doubling and I was preparing mentally to lose this pregnancy. The Monday before my appointment Dr Laguaite’s office called me to say that she couldn’t see me on the following day “because she was out sick” and my appointment would need to be pushed back another week.” I said absolutely not I need to be seen, so they scheduled me a sonogram at Touro hospital on that coming Wednesday. I was so upset I spent all of Monday and Tuesday panicking and doom scrolling on google. My appointment was scheduled for 2:30pm on Wednesday. I awoke that morning with intense abdominal pain and bleeding. By 11am I was in the emergency, being told I was losing the baby because it was ectopic and because It wasn’t caught before a heartbeat was detected, I needed a full surgical removal via laparoscopy. It was by far the most traumatic experience of my life and I can’t help but wonder if my case hand not been so mishandled maybe I would still have a fallopian tube. And the final straw was when 2 weeks later I saw Dr. Laguaite for a surgical follow up, and she proceeded to tell me that she “was sorry she was not able to keep my original appointment because she was on vacation….” not sick…. And then she said that the hcg test that had been released on the Saturday after they were completed, she never looked at them until “I was already in surgery.” And then she handed me a card for a fertility clinic and sent me on my way. Ladies of all kind, you would get more compassionate care at a butcher shop!!"
"Dr. Laguaite is the best. She really does care about her patients physical and emotional health. I was a first time mom with a high risk pregnancy and her care and referrals ensured that I brought a beautiful little girl into the world albeit earlier than once expected. I liked that she was straightforward with the facts and what to expect each step of the way. There were some emotional times during my journey and she was always comforting in those moments. She also was the voice of reason for my type-A crazy. I’ll certainly be continuing my women’s healthcare with Dr. Laguaite!"
"I experienced a very friendly and courteous staff who moved quickly in getting me in and out to see the doctor. Dr. Laguaite is professional and cordial. She listens to you and makes necessary recommendations. Good doctor."
"The best physician I have ever had the pleasure of caring for me and my children. Years later, her bedside manner is the same, and her commitment to her patients is unwavering."
