"Dr Darbonne was our OB for the delivery. He was incredible. Kind. Encouraging. And most importantly very experienced and confident. Things went so smoothly. We were lucky to have him there for us and our baby boy. The entire team here at LCMH was perfect from top to bottom. Great nurses. Front desk staff. Anesthesia providers. Thank you so much."
"Both of my kids chose to be born at Dr. Darbonne’s hands even though he is not my OB-GYN. With my first baby, after not eating/drinking anything for ~16 hours, I was blacking in/out during labor and didn’t feel anything. My husband says as soon as my baby’s head was visible, Dr. pulled her out with his 2 fingers. I have 2 family/friends who had shorter labor and were more lucid during childbirth but their Dr. had to use vacuum and one child ended up having one side of his skull elongated and mom couldn’t sit for 2 weeks. I think Dr. Darbonne’s skill/experience can protect you/your baby from such fate."
"Dr David Darbonne is absolutely amazing! I HIGHLY recommend him.. He listens to all you have to say and works with what you want and need. His office is extremely clean and his staff are very friendly and help you with everything."
"When searching for a doctor after moving to Lake Charles and deciding to start a family I decided on Dr. Darbonne. He is by far my favorite doctor. I love everyone from the front desk to his nurses. It feels like home every time I walk back through those doors. I am so thankful that I found him!"
"Dr. Darbonne has been my primary OBGYN since 1998. He has delivered all 6 of my children. He is an excellent physician, but his office staff could use a lesson on Christian morality and how to treat and speak to patients. I am currently pregnant, and high-risk, having lost a son to pre-term labor in 2011. A week prior to my emergency cesarean section in 2011, I was experiencing pain and complications. I called Dr. Darbonne's office, detailed my symptoms, and asked to be seen. His nurse told me I was probably just dehydrated and to keep my appointment for the following week. I assured her that I was well hydrated and asked if I should go to the ER. I was told that wasn't necessary. 5 days later I went to the ER when my symptoms had not only not gone away, but were worsening. In the ER we discovered that my son's leg was still in the amniotic sac, but was hanging past my cervix. The symptoms I had been experiencing were finally explained. My son had to be delivered at 24 weeks by emergency cesarean. He weighed 1 pound and 5 ounces. Colton lived for 33 days, then died in my arms. That was the first and only time I got to hold him. I told Dr. Darbonne what had happened and how I'd been instructed by his nurse, so he could make sure that never happened to anyone else. I did not seek legal recourse. I continued to use him as my primary OBGYN and he delivered 2 more of my children in 2013 and 2014. I am currently pregnant. In March of this year (2019), I went to a doctor in Eunice where I was living. His nurse called Dr. Darbonne's office and requested my medical records. Pam from Dr. Darbonne's office refused to release them, claiming I owed them $50.00. I don't think I can state strongly enough, how imperative my 20 year maternal records are for a physician to accurately treat my current pregnancy. And yet a trifling sum of $50 was more important to them, than the health of myself and the child I'm carrying. I moved back to Lake Charles this week, and called Dr. Darbonne's office to schedule an appointment. I spoke to Pam, again. I was told that Dr. Darbonne is refusing to see me because of how advanced my pregnancy is. I truly feel it is because I have state insurance instead of the coveted private coverage. I asked if I could go in and pick up my medical records, and I was denied that option. Pam asked why I wanted to pick them up in person. I said I wanted to have them in hand when I do find a physician to avoid the complication that occurred in March when my Dr. was denied my records. Pam did offer to mail them to me "when she gets them together", but she couldn't tell me when that would be. So I'm left without my records, or even a physician referral. For the reasons listed above, I strongly advise no one use Dr. Darbonne's office. His staff needs to learn the meaning of patient care, and that lives matter more than dollars."
