"A truly nurturing environment with caring staff and spiritual component."
"My son has been at Rayne for 3 years, and we love it. He has been with nearly every teacher in the school, and we've have had great experiences. Any minor concerns that have come up have been handled swiftly and fairly. I'm sad that he'll soon outgrow Rayne when it's time for Kindergarten. I'm also saddened to read the negative/old reviews- as they don't reflect our experience at all. It should be made clear that none of the employees in the others' complaints are still at Rayne. Teresa is the current Director, and she knows and cares for each child. Callie, the Pastor, is the most warm and genuine person I've ever known. They have very low turnover in their teaching staff, and we've had the same kids in my son's class for years, which says a lot. Mostly, people only post reviews if there's something to complain about- but I was inclined to post when I noticed that the reviews were not at all reflective of the wonderful environment we've experienced at Rayne."
"We have had children at Rayne for the past 8 years and have been very happy. About two years ago we went through a rough spot with a new administrator that did not fit the warm and loving feel of the school. To our relief she was let go and the school has regained that warm and wonderful feel that we have enjoyed overall during that time. Teresa Magee is the new head administrator for the school and is doing a tremendous job. We are sorry that this will be our last year. If you have a baby or a young child that you would like to have educated in a loving environment this is the place for you."
"My wife actually worked at Rayne for a year before starting her teaching career at ISL. Our son Jupiter had been at Rayne for about two years. We had planned to put our daughter there as well, but things changed one day. Initially I saw Gwyn 'rough handling' a 2 year old student. I reported it to Rayne, and notified the parents. The next day my son had a black and blue on his forearm. He said Gwyn had done it. I photographed the bruise and reported that as well. He did not elaborate as to what happened, but we did not get an 'incident report', and Gwyn denied any involvement. Two days later my son told us that Gwyn hit him in the face. He literally had a split lip, which I photographed, and recorded his statement with my cell phone. He told me very slowly exactly what happened. I reported this and met with director Keisha, and Gwyn. Gwyn denied any involvement, again we did not recieve any 'incident report'. Initially, Keisha was supportive and concerned. Upon discovering that the security cameras were actually NOT WORKING, Keisha became dismissive and told me that her 'investigation' was over. I reported all of this to NOPD, Child Protective Services, State Licensing Board. Our family was interviewed by NOPD, and the Investigator assured us that Gwyn would at least be suspended during the investigation(BY RAYNE as typical)..she was however NOT suspended. I suggested to Keisha that Gwyn work with older kids instead of NON-VERBAL kids. She accessed my child in the playground while the children 'merged' for playtime. My understanding is that now Gwyn is working with the NEWBORNS!? I wrote a letter to Cali, and the Board of Directors, including 4 x 6 photos of both of my son's injuries. After a series of secret wednesday meetings our case was conveniently swept under the rug. We were reimbursed for the rest of the month and Jupiter was promptly removed, in fact we removed him immediately after his second injury. We have since left the city of New Orleans after a series of difficulties. The lack of respect and general lack of interest in our situation was pathetic. Absolutely handled in a juvenile way with no regard to our history with Rayne or our future there, furthermore Rayne's reputation. Cali told me that she was trained as a Minister, and did not know how to handle the situation. Well, friends you best learn how to handle this type of situation. If your child ever has bruises go to Children's Hospital and get them documented by a third party. Take good care and keep your eyes open. Sincerely Jason Miner"
