"Dr. Castine and his office are very professional. They have went above and beyond to help me with my medical problems. I couldn't ask for a better team to assist me."
"On Friday, February 23rd, I presented at Alexandria Hematology/Oncology for a 2nd infusion. The staff was professional, courteous, considerate, confident, and efficient! In addition, the provider continued to check in during the infusion process just in case there were any “hiccups”, which there were not! Even though this was an infusion process for me, the experience was so pleasant that I was reluctant to leave! I would highly recommend Alexandria Hematology/Oncology to anyone with an infusion need!"
"I wish I could give them zero stars! I was referred for hematology care with Dr. Castine---showed for an appt that their scheduler called me with---no record of an appt other than my referral. Ok, so I get another appt with Dr. Castine---only to see his NP. All kinds of scheduling issues. Then came the Venefor infusion in which I was not provided proper informed consent by the RN or the NP, my privacy rights were violated at the time of the infusion, and lastly medically gaslighted by the RN providing the infusion. She literally told me if I had any issues with the infusion "it would all be in my head." Well, I did---significant ones---a severe delayed allergic reaction in which the hematologist on call that night at Castine's Zachary clinic stated only 1-2% of pts experience---a rapidly rising temp of 102.8 with Tylenol, swelling of the hands, face, severe chills, and severe muscle pain. Not to mention the issues I was having during the infusion---again "all in my head." Got up to go to the restroom and came back to a dirty IV needle on the floor in front of my infusion chair. Oh and all the open biohazard, floor level, needle disposal containers that should not be left open in the manner they were (that is a signficant hazard to children, etc). I tried to make a complaint with the clinic and Rapides---no one would take the complaint. No one deserves to be made to feel like they can't verbalize their issues during a procedure and when I did see the NP walk through the infusion area (a big room with zero privacy)----I explained I was having pain in my hand, radiating up the forearm---it was dismissed (it wasnt the only issue but "all in my head" right). If you understand the side effects of what you prescribe, you would know it was not because "the iv is cold"---literally a side effect spelled out by the Venefor manufacturer. Not all the problems I encountered but a good summary. If you want hematology care, drive out of town."
"I absolutely love Kasey Gill, APRN, FNP! Most staff members have been kind, but I have run into an issue recently. I was taken off of the treatment schedule without being notified. I drive over an hour to get there and have to find childcare for my two children. I do understand that everyone is human and makes mistakes, but we do need to own up to those mistakes and take action to rectify them. Additionally, when trying to reschedule my treatment I was met with attitude from the nurse. This nurse then went on to tell me I said things that were untrue. I have worked in oncology and the difficulty and attitude of this staff member is shocking and disheartening. A patient should not be talked to in this manner. It is absolutely disgusting. Unfortunately, I will be searching for a new Hematologist due to how disrespectful this staff member has been."
"My mother, having been diagnosed with and died from, stage 4 non small cell carcinoma had better education, care, research, and overall a better treatment plan as opposed to the treatment that my Father who was diagnosed 2 days after my mother's funeral with Stage 4 metasatic colon cancer (liver lung) than rapides. It is appalling to me that a doctor would tell a colon patient that he could just eat whatever he wants. It is also had to say that the people are friendly when they do not return your phone calls. Maybe they are I wouldn't know because I've never met the nurse for more than a couple minutes on the day he received his first treatment they sent him home for 48hr with no instruction on what happens if something happens to the pump or if he is in some kind of distress that doesn't necessarily need emergency care."
