"These people at Oceans in DeRidder Louisiana are discharging my 87 Year Old unsafe Mother back to her home even though she was found without money food and electricity. She lives alone and often times without money electricity and food because she has an online romance scam of 3 long years she never met in person, she has given more than $47,000.00 to. They don't care one iota trust me. Don't go here for real help. They said she's safe to go home. So unbelievable after all we went through to get her there for help."
"I am attending outpatient services three days a week. The therapists are very good and want us to do better. They work very hard in helping us reach our goals and teaching us They have excellent grief therapy. Of you are struggling with mental health, check them out"
"BEFORE YOU READ, PLEASE KNOW ALL THE OTHER STAFF ARE SUPER KIND, CARING, AND OVER ALL LOVELY PEOPLE. THIS IS ABOUT THE NEW COUNSELOR TAKING OVER AFTERNOON OUTPATIENT GROUP COUNSELING. When Ms. Julian was there it was awesome. Then they had a newer lady taking over and she was pretty nice, but I sadly forgot her name. THEN she left and found a better paying job (Good for her. Happy for her). A new lady who I won't name came in. That is when it went down hill. She is kind, don't get me wrong, but she pushed religion into the group counseling. It made me uncomfortable. I was there for counseling, not church. If I brought up my religion it seemed to be ignored. Kinda hypocritical. Then I brought up I smoked.. herbs... The two other ladies before her didnt like when I told them, but understood it was the least of my mental problems, especially if it helped me sleep and calm down. This new one pulled me into her office as if being scolded by a teacher and told me I was to take a drug test once a week if I was to continue going. Out of the almost one and a half years I've been there, I never had to do that. I quit and left. Way to make me feel threatened. I didn't do any other "drugs" other than those leafy herbs."
"The communication with the staff(nurses& DRs) included is horrible. They do not reach out to the individuals family and keep them updated with the behavioral progress of the patient. There has been multiple times I have called to speak to a family member for them to hang up on me and or tell me that there is not enough time to find said patient (this was a woman the man was nice). When your loved ones are being "looked" after communication is top priority. How is the family to believe you have the patients best interest at heart when you do not keep their caregivers in touch with reports. If you cant speak to your family member how would anyone know how they are being treated?. Also after turning in medical records staff tends to ask same questions listed in medical reports provided. So really do you really have the patients best interest at heart? sincerely concerned daughter!"
"My father came out if Oceans in a worse condition than he went in. Had 2 falls that required him to go to the emergency room. I requested to be involved in the group meeting with the staff concerning his care. I was contacted by the physician after the meeting, and was told that his medication was being changed. I was told for 5 days that he was doing well on the medication change. Within an hour of him being returned to the nursing facility he came from, they had to try to sedate him for aggressive behavior. He lost a significant amount of weight in the 2 weeks he was there. Please....whatever you do, DO NOT send a loved one to Oceans Behavioral."
