"I got my hair braided by a woman whose instagram handle is @kollabwith_kayt. Prior to braiding my hair, she asked if she could flat iron my hair. My hair was already blown out and I was skeptical but I trusted that she was a licensed professional and knew what she was doing. Further, she attempted to give me advice at my appointment about how to care for my hair, which was contrary to what any natural hair stylist has ever told me. When I took my braids out on 10/16/2021, I noticed that my hair broke. I then researched whether flat ironing natural hair before braiding was safe and I discovered that those methods could lead to hair breakage. I sent her a text this morning, informing her that she broke my hair and my only request was that she inform her clients if she is not familiar with their hair type. She then called me, very irate, she kept cutting me off, saying to me that my hair broke because it was bleached, brittle, and severely damaged. She told me never to come back and she does not care if I never come back. She also told me she was texting with the other hair stylist in the shop, while I was in the chair, about how bad my hair looks. She did not offer to remedy my situation, then she hung up in my face. My hair has never been bleached and I go to a natural hair stylist regularly who can vouch that my hair was not damaged. After posting about my experience on instagram, she sent her friend to intimidate me by cyber bullying me. Her friend commented on my picture stating how dry my hair is and other things. She then called me again, acting like she never went off on me because she had the shop owner on three way, unbeknownst to me. She then offered in house treatment but refused to issue a refund. I refused in house treatment as she just broke my hair and she angered me by going off on me then lying to save face on instagram and to her boss. The shop owner then told her to just hang up on me because all I want is money. So I proceeded to post about my experience on instagram further. I then received a text stating that I could only get a refund if I sign a non-disclosure agreement. I refused to sign the NDA and stated that I would still accept a refund because that is what a professional, and morally sound business does. She then called me and stated that she should not have done my hair only because it was "so damaged" but she will not acknowledge the fact that flat ironing hair before braiding it leads to breakage. Her apology was not genuine, she cut me off even during that conversation, and she continued to put the blame on me without owning up to her fault. I informed her that I would not sign the NDA and that I would report her to the board, as it stands, she said that is fine and I will not receive any other type of recourse. I am very hurt and I feel disrespected and I hope I can prevent someone from going to her. I am not speaking on the barber shop, only my experience with kollabwith_kayt."
