"A few years ago there was a van service that went around to local schools and offered dental care to all children. Local dentists went to the Louisiana legislature and opposed this service saying that it "deprived a child of being able to develop a relationship with a dentist". I contacted my local representative, Tim Burns, and voiced my displeasure with this bill. He neglected to vote on this, what I felt, was a very important issue. The pressure was on from the dentists & the almighty dollar won out over the care of our children. The van service was halted and banned from being able to go into schools. I certainly hope that these dentists and specifically Rep. Tim Burns are proud of what they have done. Baton Rouge dentist Marty Garrett led this issue on behalf of the dentists."
