"The food was really good I got the combo fried rice and the honey. walnut shrimp and the shrimp crawfish Bao first time trying Bao I was surprised it was really good so f you never have tried it I recommend it. I was told about this place from staff at LALU NOLA when asked about a good Chinese Fodd spot the staff said this was the best spot in New Orleans so I had to try it and they were correct."
"If you like dimsum and if you haven't tried this place, you are missing out! This is a must go place for xia long baos and jianbing. It also has a plethora of dims sum menus ranging from har gows and shui mais, but definitely try some of their Chinese cucumber salad and Wonton soup. You won't be disappointed with their food but keep in mind the seating can be limited. Get there off the busy hours and you will not have to wait."
"It was a pleasant surprise to find a good Chinese restaurant in New Orleans when my mind was set on soul food the whole time. I have seen Dian Xin on website recommendations before but I did not express interest back then because I wanted to have only soul food, but here we are, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience in this establishment! Xiao Long Bao was great overall! The skin wasn't too brittle so I was able to taste everything. Some ginger on the side would complement it even more, but that's okay! My partner enjoyed her crabmeat & crawfish bao as well, which was clearly a fusion version of the typical xiao long bao. Many elements of the jianbing were spot on, such as the sweetness that most likely came from hoisin sauce and the egg crust. I used to get jianbing before getting home from school when I was in elementary and middle school, so those elements hit home. I think one area of improvement would be that instead of using lettuce, scallions / green onion would be perfect instead. The hot & sour soup was spicier than I had normally had back home, but I could deal with it during that time. It was still tasty, just wasn't what I was used to back home when the soup was wilder, but even then it was a me thing than my hometown thing. Someone also came to show us how to eat the jianbing and I definitely appreciated the extra attention! Overall I would definitely revisit Dian Xin if I return to New Orleans for whatever reason! If one ever gets tired of trying out soul food, switching it up with some Chinese food wouldn't sound like a bad idea at all!"
"I love everything on the menu and the portions are great. My husband and I usually split each of the things we order. Unlike Americanized Chinese food (which is also delicious) that all sort of has a soy sauce, sweet and sour flavor, each menu item has its own flavor profile. The char su pork fried rice is amazing, as is the XO noodles. But last night we ordered something we didn’t mean to. When I got home I called because I thought they had given me the wrong thing, but the staff explained the sczechuan chicken is served in a liquidy broth and what we wanted is the chili chicken. They told us to come back and they’d make it on the house for us. It was just such a kind gesture when it was our mistake. This is the kind of business they are though. We’ve been going here since their first month in business. It’s always good. I highly recommend."
"Excellent food. Definitely order the xiaolongbao (steamed dumplings) and pan-fried dumplings! We also ordered the jianbing (Chinese crepe, eat it like a burrito), and the chasiubao (pork steamed bun). Hubby had plum wine, which was good too. We saw the table nearby eating lots of chili, so we asked for it and it's not very spicy/hot to cater to the American market, but I'd suggest trying it first. A lot of people complained about their food being so spicy because they over-add chili to their food BEFORE they even tasted their food (not very wise)."
