Reviews of El Viejo Tony DeRidder
"El Viejo Tony is the most festive restaurant I've visited in the area! Love the colorful metal sculptures inside and out. You know there's a party before you step foot inside. Service was fast and fantastic. We were treated very well by several staff. Jumbo margaritas are marvelous--no skimping. For appetizer, we had the Queso Flameado with fajita beef. Delicious but note the cheese is not dippable. For entree, I had the Mi Rancho Enchiladas with chicken, crab & mushrooms in a spinach cream sauce. Very tasty! And dessert...flan! Very good. Portions were most generous. This restaurant is worth driving to Deridder to experience. Great photo ops indoors and out!"
"Friendly, attentive, and food was great! Got the frozen mango Margarita with a sugar rim, woowee only tasted tequila-not complaining-it was yummy!. Tony came by 3 times and was very nice."
"Very open and spacious. I love all the brick and solid flooring...easy to keep clean. The wait staff were prompt and pleasant. I had Chille Relleno; a roasted Pablano Pepper stuffed with ground beef breaded with corn meal and fried, then covered in cheese and a red sauce. Very good. My wife had the "Tacos Mexicano"; street tacos. The food wss very good. They hsve a well stocked central bar you can sit at. TV's everywhere for sports. UPDATE: 3 Dec 2023 Had to take my rating down a bit. Past three visits on Sunday's have not been good. Food has no flavor. I had shrimp enchiladas...plain boiled shrimp inside a plain, under-cooked flour tortilla, covered with a flavorless white cheese sauce. Half of avocado cut in three pieces on top, (supposed to be sliced avocado). Pico was not pico...just shredded lettuce and chopped tomato. Tortilla soup was good!"
"I forgot to post these. However, I took a trip to see my aunt in Louisiana in Sept 2023, and this is one of her favorite places to eat. So, on September 9th, 2023, my aunt, my best friend, and I went to dine here. My best friend and I had never eaten here before. The food was succulent, and the interior of the restaurant had a picturesque feel to it. My aunt ordered Monica's special and the Grande Rita. My best friend ordered the stuff avocado and the Sangria Rita, and I ordered the Burrito California w/Carne asada w/a side of spicy green verde sauce and the Rainbow Rita. In addition, we had the Chile con queso and chips. Justin was our server. We were all satisfied with our food and the service we received. We did go around lunchtime, so it wasn't that busy. We enjoyed the place so much that my aunt and I visited one more time before I left on September 12th, 2023 (my best friend had departed already). Angela G was our server. This time, I ordered the flautas, the shrimp Diablo, and the Muy Grande Rita, and my aunt ordered the Monica's special again with the Skinny Rita. Overall, we would rate it a 5. We highly recommend if you happen to be in this area. Fyi, my best friend paid the first time (so I don't have the receipt). I paid the second time. The receipt is somewhat faded."
"The food and atmosphere is outstanding. Service was exceptional. The food had amazing flavor and everything is freshly prepared. Management came over and greeted us. The building is very beautiful and full of art and cool designs. Bathrooms are very clean. Definitely a place I will eat at again."
