"Our child is only in pre school at St. Ignatius, but we have been very happy with their pre school! When looking for a pre school in the neighborhood, I Googled things like "Portland preschools near by" and St. Ignatius did not pop up. Many of the pre schools that did pop up were small mom and pops with little or no availability. With no previous experience with St. Ignatius, I finally specifically searched this local school after getting waitlisted elsewhere and we signed up for it. The teachers and staff are amazing. Very loving towards the children and communicate excellent with families. They even provide multiple pictures every day via the Seesaw app so we know exactly what she is doing every day! Highly recommend St. Ignatius!"
"If we see a person’s true character in times of crisis and upheaval, I can confidently attest to the honest, dedicated, loving character of the teachers at St. Ignatius, where our two kids are students. Foresight: Back in March, on our last day of in-person teaching, our kids came home with school work and a support plan to get them through the first week away from school. (It wasn’t an “early spring break” for them.) Resolve: Soon after that first week, the teachers rallied to start an online teaching program that, to this day, has allowed our kids’ education to continue, and has provided them with much-need structure and a sense of community during these uncertain days. Leadership: Principal Clark has spearheaded this move to keep St. Ignatius students learning and connected, while keeping all the teachers active despite their reduced roles. This, my friends, is the character of St. Ignatius school. Whether or not we return to in-person teaching in the fall, I’m confident in St. Ignatius’ ability to continue our kids’ academic, moral, and spiritual/religious development. Incidentally, some of the 1-star reviews seem like throwaway reviews. But one review from a former student seems to be written in good faith from her first-hand experience. The unfortunate reality is that not everyone has an excellent or even good experience at the schools they attend. We can’t deny or sugarcoat that. (If you're interested, please ask the school about its strong anti-bullying policy.) All we can do is offer a different perspective. From my parental POV, I can 100% support the five-star reviews. They paint a true picture of what St. Ignatius provides our children."
"We have been part of this school community for 9 years. We have never doubted our choice to send our kids here. The community is kind and caring. All the kids preschool through 8th grade interact and look out for each other. Through this distance learning I have realized how impressive the academics really are. This is a Jesuit community. They are forward thinking and welcoming to all families. They practice and teach social justice. It truly is a special place!"
"We love our school! My 4th grader Julio has been at St. Ignatius since he was in PreK. Our bright and curious boy has found a home that challenges him academically and develop his creative thinking. More importantly, with the Jesuit focus on community service and social justice, St Ignatius encourages him use his gifts to make the world a better place. It has been a joy to see how the community of teachers, staff and families are helping him grow into a kind and compassionate student who now looks for opportunities to help others."
"From the day we dropped our daughter off for her first day of Kindergarten at St. Ignatius (she's in 8th grade now!), we've known this was an incredibly special place to nurture a kid's curiosity, kindness, and love of learning. The staff and teachers are excellent, everyone there cares so much about every student, and our daughter just told us she feels absolutely prepared for high school...how cool is that?"
