Reviews of West Seattle Health Club
"Reasonable prices. They have discounts for local company employees. Only 3-4 squat racks but they recently emailed about adding more. There’s always equipment that needs repair but they communicate pretty well. Huge space, friendly staff."
"Staff is pretty clueless. Customer service is almost nonexistent. Equipment is pretty trash as is the community there and they still have the audacity to charge as much as they do. Save your money and time and look around. There are plenty of better gyms in the area."
"This gym is great! It’s huge, so it never feels too jammed, the staff is very nice and it has parking. Eli is one of the personal trainers there, and he is great. A membership comes with two free sessions and I’m so glad I lucked into him. I signed up for a series in anticipation of a golf trip! Love it."
"I’ve been attending over a year and I can say confidently that this gym is excellent - and I say this as someone who came from working out at a lot more “glamorous” gyms in my former state. It is always spotlessly clean! It’s also HUGE - there are several levels with different weight rooms, stretch rooms, tons of classes and a large weight section. I very rarely, if ever, have to wait in equipment. The staff is friendly, usually very consistent and I don’t see a lot of high turnover. Always have a lot of towel drops, garbage cans and cleaning supplies handy. The culture of the gym is also great. It’s a really wide mix of all kinds of people. I’ve seen extremely athletic veterans who attend the gym like their temple work alongside brand new folks, elderly, or people like me getting back into it after life took priority. It’s the perfect balance of not feeling like a meat market but also feels like a serious gym. They have a ton of family classes and swimming lessons which is great for those with kids, but they are in a separate part of the gym so they don’t overlap or bother adults like me who aren’t child friendly. They have a great kids club that I’m told is very reasonable - again, win win for the parents and the childfree. The locker rooms are super spacious and I feel very safe here as a woman. I feel like a lot of the criticism this gym gets for being a bit outdated and having older equipment is harsh. In just a year I’ve seen them make MASSIVE improvements and they are about to get an influx of all new equipment as well. I don’t think people understand how brutal the pandemic was on gyms and how expensive it is to order entire floors worth of equipment. Bottom line is that I feel like the owners and the management really cares and they are making huge strides to make this gym even better. I’m excited to see what comes up and I’m grateful we have this place in Seattle! I’ll post some photos of the new stuff once it comes in."
"Here are some observations as a member of the West Seattle Health Club: 1. Machines always out of service 2. Soap dispensers in locker rooms don’t work 3. Paper towel dispensers in locker rooms are jimmy rigged with a screw and never work 4. Rarely have towels available for members, always out of small or big towels 5. Entire club is run down, patchy paint on walls, old carpet and the locker rooms haven’t been updated in years A few of us have submitted internal feedback forms to help resolve some of these issues over the past few months but no action has been taken. Management, do better!"
