"An amazing university with an incredible history. They have raised up many brilliant Christian scholars as well as trained many wonderful lay Christian leaders. They are a bright spot in a difficult part of NE Portland. They have a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate degree programs that they offer and a lovely park-like campus. The prayer chapel is a great place for prayer, reflection and meditation. The cafeteria has surprisingly good food for a school cafeteria. If it's Bible you want, then you want Multnomah."
"I went to this school a few years ago. At that time there were some professors that I admired and thought was good while others, not so much. To give you an idea, I remember one prof (that I see is still at the school) in his theology class before starting the class would talk about the last night’s Simpsons episode he watched. Also, he subtly advocated “inclusivism” that when it comes to those that never heard the gospel, there’s a chance they just get saved since it’s not their fault they never got to hear the gospel. It seems like due to his pro-Catholicism part he may have these things. BTW, there was one chapel session where the whole chapel was about being united with the Catholic church and of course this same prof was the main one leading that chapel. What was quite disturbing was recently I saw that one prof was having a conference teamed up together with Tim Mackie (who outright rejects the penal substitution of the gospel – and portrays God as a monster in it) and who also seems to be.. slowly going in the direction of progressive “Christianity” - to quote his very words from one teaching video of his, “it's the same Jesus who loved every single one of us despite our flaws and our failures and you gave himself for us and so with this Jesus whether you're married whether you're divorced whether you're straight or whether you're gay there is no shame with this Jesus. In Messiah Jesus there is no male or female no slave or free no Jew or non-Jew no gay no straight just beautiful humans made in the image of God” What does it show about a prof at a school if he teams up with this kind of guy? When I went to the school many years ago, I admired the part about the firm claim about the importance of the Bible, “If you want Bible, you want Multnomah!”, but with some of the professors they get in and the compromise and “progressive” direction I have seen, if it was the way it is now, I would have never gone to this school."
"I graduated from Multnomah University with a degree in Biblical and Theological Studies in 2018. I am beyond thankful for my time at MU. The community is fantastic. Whether it is worshiping around a campfire, playing Frisbee in the field, cheering at the sporting games, having Bible studies or cramming to watch movies in the dorms, there is always fun and meaningful ways to connect in this community. One question that stood out to me from my time in the Bible and Theology program is “Why does this matter?” I was challenged to think about why the Bible is important in the past, present and future. Not only was I challenged to think, but I was taught under brilliant professors from varied Christian traditions. Being a multi-denominational school, I was able to learn from various perspectives. None of my professors every wanted me to walk away with their exact view, but rather to learn from them and to think critically for myself. I was taught how to continue learning beyond MU. I cannot thank Multnomah University enough for the experience and knowledge that I gained from my time there."
"This a great school. I have spent four years learning, growing, and maturing into a faithful Disciple of Jesus. The Christian Leadership Undergraduates Program is worth all the money spent. If your interested in growing in your faith and becoming better prepared to serve others while increasing your knowledge then I highly recommend Multnomah University."
"I am a Christian fundamentalist Street Preacher and a graduate of this school with a Bachelors of Science degree with majors in Bible and Theology, and Communications Studies. I had very good teachers who loved God and knew their bibles well. I personally am a Baptist theologically and was before I ever knew what a Baptist was just from reading the Bible. This is a non-denominational school, so there were times when I took issue with theological differences I had with what I would call left leaning students and faculty. All in all my experience was excellent. I only rated it very good because I had a very difficult time interacting with students from much more left leaning religious affiliations and backgrounds than I was comfortable with. It was a good experience for me though. I thank God for my experience there and the growth that He accomplished in my life while I was at the school. =^ ) Professors like Mike Gurney, Dave Jongeward, and Keith Swenson forever positively influenced my relationship with God with guidance and spiritual wisdom. I am so thankful to have been able to study under them."
