About the Business
Recording Connection Audio Institute, located at 1001 Southwest 5th Avenue, Portland, Oregon, offers a unique and innovative approach to audio engineering and music production education. Unlike traditional schools, students at Recording Connection are placed in a real recording studio with a professional music producer as their mentor. This one-on-one learning experience allows students to learn at their own pace, full-time, part-time, nights, or weekends.
The Portland music production and audio engineering training studios provide students with hands-on experience using industry-standard gear to create high-quality music. The institution's flexible schedule accommodates students with job or family commitments, making it easier to pursue a career in the music industry.
Recording Connection's programs are affordable and take only six to nine months to complete, compared to traditional universities that can take four years and cost significantly more. The institution has a network of mentors who have worked with top artists such as Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, and more, giving students the opportunity to learn from industry professionals.
In addition to in-person learning, Recording Connection offers remote learning options, allowing students to connect with mentors from anywhere in the United States and Canada. This flexibility ensures that students can continue their education even during challenging times like the Covid-19 pandemic.

"This is a scam. Very pushy people and unprofessional sales techniques. I was still being harrassed after asking to be put on the DO NOT CALL/EMAIL list and yet they still called me. I had to beg them to not contact me again. Be careful with this "company"."
"Super creepy amounts of pushy sales happened, to the point where I had a guy being rude to me on the phone because I wasn't ready to commit to the program. My mentor seemed cool/normal but I passed on the program because the actual staff seem like their bottom line is sales. Careful."
"The best advice I can give is to make yourself available and be tenacious. What I always tell people is music, or any creative career, is never an easy out. I see too many people think they can just pick up a laptop and be the next Skrillex in a week . But that’s not how it works. You really have to be very tenacious. You have to work at it every day."
"My advice is you get from this program what you take from this program. So the more you do your own extra learning and come in with a million questions each week, the more you’re going to get from it… That’s the whole point of the program."
"I do not believe this is a legit school. I went to the Portland location listed and there is no such school at the listed address (Portland, Oregon). I called the phone number listed on the website and it was not a legitimate number. I then called the toll-free number, and while someone did answer, I was quickly put on hold. I waited for over 20 minutes for the operator to come back and she never did so I hung up, Do your research. I am looking at other programs. I'd be very wary of this school."
