"Amazing experience I learned so much I went into the school not knowing exactly what I wanted but left more sure then ever I learned so much and was so happy with the teachers and Advisor Candice was helpful with choosing classes and aligning your interest with what program you should do Sharon the owner cares about every student and worked hard to see us succeed ! The teachers give great feedback and know so much they truly give you a insight into the fashion world because of PFI I feel like I can succeed in my career in the fashion world"
"Spent 2.5 years here, and It was a great experience, I learned so much and was able to take those skills and translate them into a career with The North Face as an Apparel Technical Developer. Without PFI and their great teachers, my dream of having a career in the fashion industry would never have been realized. They have some amazing teachers there like Anne Swanson, who is a great teacher and pattern maker and really is what inspired me to go into patternmaking/TD as opposed to design. Highly recommended school with great faculty."
"I attended PFI in 2016 finishing in 2018. The instructors were all people who were currently or worked for big apparel companies or in the industry the class was based on. I was very fortunate to stumble upon PFI's website in 2016 shortly before I started. I really learned everything from nothing starting out. I didn't even know how to sew. I am very ambitious and was ready to learn. Beyond thankful for the Apparel Designer Certificate. I've been able to find a job in production sewing right after school working my way to now a bigger company in a higher position as a Developer prototyping the new professional athletes uniforms. On top of that, I've also launched my own Apparel company with the knowledge I've gained during my time at PFI on top of the real experienced I gained after school. I've shown in multiple fashion shows now so I highly recommend PFI if you want to get experience and knowledge based on the real industry."
"Portland, Oregon is lucky to be the home of Portland Fashion Institute. PFI is a small but mighty school with 3 certificate programs for those looking to work in the apparel industry. They are Apparel Designer, Apparel Technical Developer + Apparel Entrepreneur + they only take about 2 years to complete! The instructors are subject matter experts in design, construction, pattern making as well as apparel business classes like Portfolio, Adobe Illustrator + Computer Pattern making. The registrar is super helpful + responsive + was able to answer all my questions in a timely manner. She made the process easy from start to finish. I have enjoyed my time with PFI + will be recommending the school to anyone wanting to study apparel or just take a class for fun. I am really excited about my future + grateful to the school for all I’ve learned!"
"PFI is wonderful fun. All of the teachers are professionals who do their best to give their expertise while making sure you have a good time. I have met most of them and I can’t say enough good things. If you want to know sewing, fashion design or patternmaking, this is the place. Sign up for a class. You’ll be glad you did."
