"The sinkage here was extremely helpful as were the people working the lighthouse tower. East beach access. I went for a quick swim and found the beach to have some trash although that did not ruin my day reading out the first landing and learning about captain Henry! The statue was super cool as was the cross. Seeing the new cape gentry lighthouse in the back, peeking over the hedge was also a nice little bonus."
"Short stop to see the oceanfront and beach that is involved in so much history. The grounds are not well manicured but the significance of the site - the cross, story of the naval battle of 1781 between the French and British fleets, and the statue of De Grasse make up for it. If you like history or are just visiting the area and lighthouse, take the few minutes to visit the First Landing Cross."
"I visited the cape henry lighthouse which is still an active military base. You aren't able to climb the new lighthouse because it's still in use, but you are able to climb the old original one from 1792 and they have a cool little gift shop too."
"Beautiful park. Actually warmer in the park than on the beach. Very different variety of plants and tree's"
"Worth a stop if checking out the lighthouses, the cross is a more permanent version of the original oak cross the fashioned over 400 years ago when those blokes from England came and founded the country under God, as is the national motto now (In God We Trust). Cheers."
