"We went in September which had us suggesting that similar visitors should maybe bring a jacket depending on when you go. The guide can take photos for you. It's about 90 minutes and a shuttle takes you back. The gift shop is fun for when you get back, as well. It was good. It's safe. Go do it."
"This is an easy boardwalk with stairs to the overlook. The walk is very close to the visitor center where you can watch a video about the park, get junior ranger books and get the driving tour map. We did the driving tour and it was nice. It's a 45 drive with various views of the bridge from below."
"“The longest single arch bridge in the western hemisphere,” constructed in 1977. Incredible and impressive engineering. There is a boardwalk that takes you to a beautiful overlook of the bridge and the river. I would recommend going to the visitor center for a better look on the river and be prepared for a bit of stairs. To view the entirety of the bridge, hike the Long Point Trail which is approximately 10 minutes from this location."
"This was a great day trip! Easy to access and wasn’t to crowed on a Sunday. Lots of stairs to go down to the viewing platform but there were areas to rest along the way. There is a second trail (steep and rocky) off to the side that goes down to the bridge walk and offered a great view. Will do the bridge walk next time for sure!"
"On the drive from Buffalo to Hilton Head, there are only two essential stops I would recommend, and this is one of them. I remember going here when I was a kid and we used to do the drive, and now, just a few weeks ago, I did it again. It looks like they re-did the whole wooden stairway going down the gorge a bit to the lookout point. It's really beautiful. We wanted to have a picnic there as it was about our halfway point, but it was raining. So . . . we had a picnic anyway. Ha! We took our sandwiches down to the lookout point at the end, wiped off one of the benches down there, and enjoyed our little picnic nonetheless. And because of the rain, it made for a special kind of time to look out on the gorge and the massive bridge. We'll be back!"
