"The doctor I've been working with basically scolded me like I was a child because my blood pressure came back higher than normal and because I expressed being a bit stressed out due to my hours at work (and because I had to reschedule a previous appointment due to work). 1. I had told her multiple times in the past that I have "White Coat Syndrome", and struggle with getting accurate readings during appointments. Two hours after the telehealth meeting where she scolded me, I checked my blood pressure with the same cuff and it was a lot lower. Considering I had seen this doctor multiple times in the last few months and each time have had proof that my blood pressure is lower in a "not being watched by a medical professional" setting, paired with the fact she still refused to believe me, made me feel like she didn't truly bother to understand my experience and made assumptions. 2. To be able to SCOLD me for working too much and not taking care of myself is a horribly privileged thing to say. Some of us are dependent on overworking to survive in today's economy. So many people have people dependent on them, are trying not to lose their homes, and to keep everything afloat. Yes - I'm aware I'm slightly more stressed from my work hours, but this isn't for her to scold me on and treat me as if I was stupid for it. I'm trying to take care of myself but right now I don't have any other choice if I want to keep my home. On top of this, I tried my best to be considerate of her and the clinic's time by switching times well before the appointment, and notifying ASAP if I was to be late due to traffic. With the clinic going from 6pm to 5pm from now on, it just isn't a good fit anymore and that's all the conversation needed to end at so I could seek other medical professionals that could accommodate my schedule. She didn't need to reprimand me for that. The worst part of it all is at the first meeting with this doctor, I was very clear that I have had issues and traumatic experiences with previous doctors. That it's been difficult for me to get adequate healthcare because of past experiences. She seemed understanding and helpful at first, so it really hurt when she flipped the switch on me suddenly. One last thing - they aren't very transparent about costs here. I went to a follow up appointment and notified them that I had likely a cold, and that I was willing to reschedule because the follow up was in regards to a general physical and blood test, not for my sudden illness. The girls at the front told me to come in anyways, so I did, and they ended up doing a COVID and flu test on me. Now understandably it's been a while, but my previous COVID tests were always free at Zoom+ and I had never had a flu test before so I assumed it was free as well since the clinic told me to come in and no one told me otherwise. Imagine my shock when I got a diagnostics bill for $200! Had I known that it was going to cost me that much, I would've just rescheduled the appointment entirely and came back in for my follow up when my cold was over. I already knew I didn't have the flu or COVID, my symptoms were NOT aligned with it at all. Two stars instead of one because they referred to NW ADHD and NW ADHD has been amazing, and the lady who does the blood draw is the sweetest. She was really able to relax me and make me feel better in a what I considered a stressful situation."
"I love this place. Coming from Texas, I'm used to having to argue with my healthcare providers and not get the care I need, but Hands On has been the most positive healthcare experience I've had since I was a child. Going to a nurses-only practice is the best, everyone who works here is kind and excellent at their job. Getting my meds refilled is so easy, and appointments are a breeze"
"I had been trying to receive care at this clinic for over a year and was put on the waitlist, dropped, put on the waitlist again and then finally scheduled an appointment. I called a couple weeks later to get the providers name and was told the appointment had been canceled even though I received no communication. Meg was very rude, condescending, unhelpful and lacked the compassion and empathy I’d hope people working in a medical office would possess. After this last interaction, I’m going someplace else."
"Hands on Medicine, has been my favorite place to get my care and has been so helpful to my health over the years. I highly recommend getting health care here. The staff is very professional and the friendliest group of people I ever experienced for my health."
"All of the clinicians (Kim nd Kristi) and M.As (Pat and Mary) are wonderful. Their phlebotomist, Frank, is gentle and warm. The clinic is welcoming and safe for transgender persons as well. Great neighborhood clinic."
