"I go to meetings everywhere. . . . . Been here many a time I don't go so much anymore for what I can get out of a meeting , as what I can bring to it . I pray I have a message that'll help someone WANT to stay clean and sober for today . Love the Alano club here , and alano clubs elsewhere as well ."
"This is a 'landlord' and volunteers manage the schedule by meeting times. The doors are open at that time: they are posted online at the website by the OAC name and on District 8 site as well. Masks required if not vaccinated."
"As I am young in my recovery I came here in hopes of finding a sponsor today and the experience I had made me want to go back out and use! I had my puppy with me and was dropped off (an emotional support animal) and went into the meeting without issue. After being there for nearly 30 minutes my dog started to whine so I took him outside to go to the bathroom. As I went back into the building a man behind the counter tells me I can't have my dog in there to which I reply he's a service animal. The man says "no he isn't" to which I reply "yes he is". The man then proceeds to yell at me "NO HE ISNT!" So I turned around and left. Now I understand them not wanting pets but I don't understand why I wasn't told this immediately or by anyone else?"
"The alano club gives a place that allows me to heal, and allows me to see I need to work on my recovery and make it the most important thing in my life. I could always go back out there, but for today I'll take another 24."
"spent a year attempting to find out what this place was about and left more confused than before. Trust me there are other places more appealing and healing to go to. If this is how people stay sober there must be other ways of doing so because this place just makes me want to drink. Bizarre self medicating people with serious hangups that need professional attention."
