"I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to my husband going here. My husband was uncomfortable the entire process with how he was treated. He tends to overthink but after reading the analysis that was sent home with him and reading the reviews, he was 100000% accurate. I’m completely baffled by the analysis done and sent home with him. It’s clear they are not only judge-mental but incompetent in their job. They are so far off base with their “findings”. The recommendations were also nothing that Dr. Google couldn’t tell you. The saddest part is we paid a lot of money for nothing. DO NOT GO HERE. And sound family medicine uses them as their referral partner. Do better sound family medicine."
"Disappointing and Judgmental Interview Experience at Joy and Wellness Center I recently had an interview at the Joy and Wellness Center in Puyallup, 11/14/23 and I must say it was an absolutely disheartening experience. Despite having 15 years of solid medical background, I felt judged and dismissed the moment I walked into the room, presumably because of my tattoos and dark haired appearance and style that is part of my personality. In this day and age, I expected a mental health facility to prioritize non-judgmental attitudes, especially when dealing with clients or future prospected employees. As wile working in the medical field these things are widely accepted. Appearance does not and should not disqualify your abilities. It is truly disappointing to encounter such blatant prejudice in a professional setting. The fact that the establishment would allow judgmental employees to represent their organization is a major concern. As someone who values inclusivity and acceptance, I cannot fathom the idea of working for an establishment that harbors such discriminatory views. Even if I had received a callback, I would decline any opportunity to work for Joy and Wellness Center. Mental health is a delicate matter, and it is essential for the professionals involved to exhibit empathy, respect, and open-mindedness. Unfortunately, it seems that these qualities are lacking within this particular organization. It is a shame that a place claiming to promote joy and wellness failed to uphold these principles during the interview process. I sincerely hope that the Joy and Wellness Center reevaluates its approach and strives to create a more inclusive and accepting environment for both employees and clients. Below is the two employees that interviewed me for the position I was more than qualified for."
"I’ve been seeing them for over 2 years. Staff have been very friendly, helpful and very informative. The therapy has been great to assist in processing emotions and helping me be a peace with things from past and what going on currently in life. Definitely would recommend."
"Between the shady billing practices and a terrible therapist.. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is looking to better themselves. I did a total of 3 sessions. Dr. Cornell was bored and yawned the whole time at all three sessions. He gave terrible advice and wanted me to avoid the issues I was having vs learning how to cope and deal with them. Then let’s add in the fact that as I am literally walking into session 3, the receptionist informs me that my insurance won’t be covering my sessions. When I called to talk to billing, I should have been informed about the insurance issue before session 2 but “it fell through the cracks.” Mind you, they are way over priced as far as therapists go. Now 6 months later... I randomly have my remaining balance withdrawn from my account and when I questioned it “it’s per policy and should have been done sooner.” This place takes zero responsibility for their miscommunications so make sure to read thoroughly the policies before trusting them because their policies are shady as well. Don’t make the same mistake I did."
"I typically wouldn't write about therapy, but after seeing a negative review I felt I should talk about my experience so others can know the difference it has had on me. Dr. Higgins helped me through one of the hardest times in my life, my divorce. I never got the impression that she was after my money and considering the fact I would call her three times a day at times, I'm surprised she never sent me an extra bill. I continue to see Dr. Higgins regularly and I've never had this issue, but I know it is case by case. I'm so grateful for the work Dr. Higgins has done in my life and the fact that she tries to always make herself available when I'm in need of support. Thank you so much!"
