Paul Bunyan Statue North Denver Avenue, Portland, OR 97217
About the Business
The Paul Bunyan Statue is a historic tourist attraction located at North Denver Avenue in Portland, Oregon, United States. The land where Kenton now stands was once sold to the Associated Banking & Trust Company in 1892, and later developed due to the meat industry. Cattle were herded down Kenton's main street, with the area becoming a major manufacturing center by 1911. Swift & Co. played a significant role in the development of Kenton, creating a company town with homes for workers and executives. The iconic Paul Bunyan Statue was built in 1959 for the Oregon Centennial celebrations and now stands as a symbol of the neighborhood. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009, the statue is a reminder of Kenton's rich history and industrial past.

"Street parking only City and community have done a great job ensuring no graffiti"
"Passed this 31 ft tall statue a bazillion times, but finally snapped a picture while waiting for the Max last weekend! It’s tall, it’s old (erected in 1959 for the State centennial!), in good shape, and is an awesome nod to the region’s logging history and American folklore."
"Love it!!! I am so glad I discovered this statue. It would have been nice to have his bull with him too. That would be adorable. Go Paul Bunyan for wearing a mask. Such a trooper."
"The Paul Bunyan statue is a quirky landmark of N Interstate Ave & the Kenton neighborhood that has been in existence since before my early childhood; my siblings and I thought it was sooo cool. His outfit has changed (for the better) and this 57-year-old, 37' tall dude is always camera-ready for any foto-fun you could want... I invite you to give him a visit, and learn his story..."
