"Susan Hakeman is a terrible doctor. She is rude, belittling, and doesn’t listen to what the people in her care are telling her. She overprescribed me on antipsychotics to the point where I was having auditory hallucinations and psychotic thoughts that I had never experienced before my bipolar diagnosis. When I would complain about these red flags her only response would be to increase the medication that was responsible for these terrible hallucinations and aggressions. I did this for around two years before seeking help elsewhere. She made me feel like I was crazy for experiencing these terrible side effects. My new doctor recognized immediately that I was having a bad reaction to the antipsychotic. He immediately started weening me off then and in less than 24 hrs I felt like a normal person again after 2 years of mental anguish. I have finally found stability elsewhere with the right medication and therapy. Do not let this woman put your mind in a straight jacket. For those of you having the same experience make sure you’re heard. This woman should not be practicing mental health services any longer."

"My daughter had an appointment with this doctor, and she missed it because she has SEVERE anxiety, which is why she needs a psychiatrist. She has anxiety about answering her phone so didn't pick up. I called and explained this apologetically and received a quite curt phone call from the doctor saying that she has a four month wait list and there are no exceptions if you miss your appointment. This to me does not sound like a practitioner that cares about her patients or is willing to work to help them get better. We have been working for years to get her into a good psychiatrist that cares and can help her manage her severe ptsd level anxiety - I'm so glad we dodged this bullet. This one sounds like she's just in it for the money. I hope one day she remembers that patient care is supposed to be the priority."

"I've seen Dr Hakeman on and off for 3 years. I was saddened to see the bad reviews for her but I suspect that most of the bad reviews are of first impressions of her. Yes, Dr Hakeman is a little odd, but it becomes endearing. She has a good heart and she is really good at her job. She has never rushed me out of an appointment. She has always listened to my feedback about the meds and tweaked doses as necessary. She persistently encouraged me to find a primary care Dr and therapist, showing that she is concerned about my overall well being."

She asked more questions about my medical background than most primary care doctors ever have. She asked questions and listened to everything I said before making notes. She thoughtfully answered all my questions about different kinds of medications not just about what they did but how they were delivered into your system. I left her office feeling like I had found a Doctor who really cared and was easy to talk with."
