"We did a 9am-12pm Ballard Locks tour and it was amazing! The wildlife was my favorite part. I learned the harbor seals in the marina lack natural predators, so they are super curious and will swim right up to (or onto!) the kayaks. See the video! We also saw lots of kingfishers, cormorants, herons, an osprey, and got an up close view of a bald eagle tearing into a salmon. Our guide, Lindsay, was so personable and made sure everyone was comfortable and having fun. It's definitely beginner friendly, but my partner and had very tired arms by the end (we're not athletic). But there were also some seasoned kayakers in the group, so I think it's fun for everyone. I would 1000% go again and have already recommended it to a bunch of friends!"
"We had a fantastic tour with Lindsay today! We saw seals and jumping salmon and so many birds! We also saw starfish and crabs. Going through the locks was definitely a unique experience, but the wildlife was incredible. And Lindsay was so fun to chat with. We learned a lot!! I would definitely come back and kayak with Ballard Kayak again."
"We booked a 1:30-3:30 kayak tour and it was awesome! We happened to be there when the tide was at its lowest and our guide told us that is the best time to see all the sea creatures! Our guide Lindsey was awesome! He pointed out starfish, crabs, seals and eagles! He educated us on Puget sound and was so personable and funny. I think Ballard Kayak is the go-to spot for tours on and around the Sound!"
"Our guide Lindsay was amazing, so full of life and fun. He made an effort to learn everyone's names. He shared all sorts of interesting info along the trip, told some fun jokes, and was happy to answer all questions. We saw harbor seals, baby salmon, and great blue herons. Experiencing the lock was really fun."
"Really great place, super friendly staff. I had a blast kayaking with them on the Ballard Locks tour. Going through the locks was an awesome experience! Saw plenty of fish and sea lions, and really cool to kayak past many of the large ships anchored in the harbor above the locks. Make sure to read their website and FAQs to prepare for your tour."
