"I was aware of the history and details of why this park is a good thing. It's a nice place to relax, walk around, and take in the sights. The tracks to the South and the trains are why the Chinese labor was imported."
"It is a nice little park by the water. The landscape is pretty good and unique. I learned a lot of interesting information about Chinese emigrants from the signs on the rocks in this park. It's a little bit small for me, but worth visiting nevertheless..."
"This is a beautiful park and it is educational as it teaches visitors about the history of Chinese Americans who lived in the area and the hardships and prejudices they faced. It is good places like this exist to educate the public. Also, in addition to the aspect of it teaching with informational signage throughout, the park itself is beautiful. It is very well cared for and the flowers and trees are beautiful. This is a good place to take a stroll, learn history, and enjoy the beauty of the area."
"Absolutely enjoying the quiet walk of the park and learning the history of Chinese expulsion led by the mayor and hundreds of armed citizens during the late 1800s. Love the water view and saw two seals swimming in the water. After finished wandering the park I Google more about what happened to the Victims, I also learned that the park is built next to the railroads that were help built by the Chinese. Very sad history of the past. But i really appreciate Tacoma for acknowledging and reminding us of the unfair treatment of the Chinese immigrants. I hope everyone who comes here will find peace and harmony."
"Powerful, thoughtful, edifying. Even (or especially?) exploring as we did, out of order in following the story, and following our curiosity, the impact of the historic events hit deeply. I don't want to give away too much because there was an element of discovery I hope others will experience. Still, the blend of natural and human-made seemed to rise out of heartfelt expression."
