"A Disappointing Journey with Allen Patterson Builders. Our recent experience with Allen Patterson Builders during the construction of our new home was deeply unsatisfactory. What began as a manageable process, complete with upgrades to the finishes, quickly devolved into a series of frustrations. Despite receiving and paying invoices for these upgrades, as we neared closing, our requests for a final cost statement went unanswered, leading us to believe that all additional costs were settled. However, a month after closing, we were unexpectedly presented with a substantial invoice for these very upgrades by the project manager. This was not only surprising but also extremely frustrating, given our proactive attempts to clarify costs beforehand. Moreover, we found discrepancies in the billing, with thousands of dollars in charges that we had already paid being billed again. Our interactions with the owner, Allen, added to the distress. His approach was unapologetically aggressive, and he blamed us for the miscommunications. His demeanor was far from professional, bordering on threatening. Despite agreeing to pay the additional costs contingent on the completion of outstanding work, over a year elapsed with little to no progress. In the end, we paid the full amount, yet faced additional delays and unresponsiveness in getting Allen to release the lien on our property. Our dissatisfaction with the entire experience culminated in us selling the home and leaving the neighborhood, a decision not taken lightly. To potential clients of Allen Patterson Builders: exercise caution. Do not be swayed by marketing and accolades. Ensure everything is documented in writing, consider consulting with legal counsel, and if possible, avoid direct interactions with the owner. Our experience revealed a lack of professionalism, disorganization, poor customer service, and an absence of courtesy that went beyond mere business disagreements."
