Reviews of Landmark Court Apartments
"Visiting this place is like stepping into some sort of rank history book. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful historical building and it has potential. The tenants and the neighborhood were quiet for a Friday night. However, the hallways smell horrendous and it is difficult to breathe inside. There appears to be some sort of gray boxes that emit noxious fumes and aromas, probably in attempt to cover up smells of musk, mold, mildew, and/or cigarettes that are soaked into the walls and the ancient carpets that cover the hall floors. Even for the most seasoned sniffer, it is hard not to gag. Considering that each shoe-box sized apartment costs nearly $1000 with zero included utilities, it seems unfathomable that the owners wouldn’t be able to afford to replace the decrepit flooring throughout the halls. I feel sympathy for the poor souls meant to act as rental and property manager for this unit and understand they have little power to improve matters; and the maintenance person surely could not love his job. Whoever owns this property needs to do better by it… talk about passive income without giving anything back! Any issues with management or maintenance should be blamed solely upon the owner and not those poor employees. Getting approved and accepted into your own over-priced shoe-box and locked into an oppressive 12 month lease is VERY easy compared to some of the other equally or worse rental prices nearby. So if you need a place FAST and have no nose, this may be a good place for you. The unit I viewed included a miniature gas range stove with an oven that was connected via orange 120v extension cord and a very small fridge/freezer (the only other kitchen outlet was connected to the light switch by the entry) There is a walk in closet (there are not built in dressers like the layout says) Inside of your walk-in closet is your pocket-sized bathroom. Hopefully there’s some sort of fan in there, otherwise it’s gonna be humid where your clothes live. The windows seem to be as ancient as the building itself, with decayed seams and seals that let the breeze inside. Considering the very high rent, I cannot imagine any reason for the windows and carpets being in the state they are. It gives an instant impression of greed, neglect, and a lack of compassion from whoever is truly in charge. I hear rumor that there is a laundry room in the basement, and it is unclear where and how tenants are to remove their garbage and debri from the building. As one explores, you can only guess which signs posted are accurate and which are only there as vintage decor. The fire exit clearly marked “Fire Exit Only, Alarm will sound!!” is in fact a REGULAR door that will not alarm. The tiny, old timey elevator slams shut hard and fast, and offers a ride akin to those at the local fair. You ZOOM up and down. The spiral type staircase is charming. From the main floor, a miniature door opens into a miniature courtyard housing a single patio table. What I have deemed “the community library” on the top floor included books from the 60’s, at least one VHS, some DVDs, other misc vintage texts, as well as part of a light fixture or hub cap. I would say the worst things about this place could easily be mitigated if a little care and compassion were applied. 1. Replace hallways carpets/flooring 2. Stop using aroma spray that fills the hallways with a rank odor that smells like floral-covered-death 3. Replace the windows 4. Lower the rent 5. Pay the property management better and hire a part time assistant for them 6. Give maintenance a reason to care about their job According to parcel search, the owners are : LANDMARK COURT ASSOCIATES LLC & CHRISTIANSON PAUL E & LAUSCH ANGELA M"
"This place is very unprofessional I started my application process early January the lady said I have to redo my app I had to pay the fee again and still no word from them, it’s been a whole month now and no emails calls saying I was approved or denied. I recently gave up my pursue for this property and now I’m currently homeless seeking other properties. I don’t recommend this property they will steal your money ask for all your personal information social, w2 sensitive information and you won’t hear from them again. I felt robbed and violated!"
"This is by far the worst apartment I've ever lived in. Contacting the property manager is nearly impossible, they are never in the office. The whole building stinks to high hell. The plumbing and electrical work is at least 40 years old. The water pressure in the shower is so bad that it can barely turn on. Despite being a "smoke free" building, multiple tenets smoke in the hallways and they never did anything about it (despite there being working security cameras in the hallways). We found silverfish in our apartment and the manager told us that they'd call an exterminator to come check it out. They never came. Even when we told them that there are roaches in the laundry room, I never saw an exterminator. The maintenance team is unprofessional. Our carbon monoxide detector was going off, and the man said it needed new batteries...and then didn't put new batteries in it. I had to go buy batteries with my own money and put them in myself. Before that, it took them a whole day to get to us because there's no phone number available, just the work order requests through the website. The whole building is filthy. Dirt, dust, wrappers, paper, cigarette butts, used q-tips, literal piss and vomit would sit on the floors or in the stairwell leading outside for days, sometimes weeks. On top of all this, they will try to scam you out of your money. We had a negative balance on our account, and they aren't any of it back, same with our security desposit, AND now they're saying that we owe them more money because "the utilities hadn't been paid for the last 2 months". This is bullcrap, because my fiance and I were so careful with our rent and bill payments. We always paid on time, always the full amount, sometimes we went over, hence why we had a negative balance. Do not rent here. It is not worth it. We rented here so I'd be close to UWT, but I deeply regret living here. Don't put yourself through the bullcrap and stress of living here."
"I called to schedule a tour and was told to come in between 3:30 and 4pm. I drove 20 minutes to get here and the woman in the office wouldn’t answer to the call box to let me in. I called repeatedly from my phone and the call box and was ignored, I left a message and waited 15 minutes, no call return. Pretty unprofessional and downright rude."
"Very little parking and the neighborhood is slightly sketchy. All in all though great apartments with secured access."
