"Car break ins, bike room break ins, apartment break ins, non responsive management, and insane utilities! Also gunshots into the building twice in the first year it was open. Feel free to reach out. *UPDATED* These apply to greystar management (fyi).. Was charged $500 for a 1 bedroom unit for utilities with no explanation. Utilities have gone from $75/ mo when I moved in 2023, to over $200 a month for a one bedroom single occupant unit, and then the move out month they doubled. Greystar has been challenging to get in touch with as well. Hoping for a resolution but not feeling optimistic."
"Apartments are pretty nice given that they’re new. Cameron is incredibly helpful and friendly, which made connecting with management easy if he was in the office, but those are about the only positives I can think of. The rent is insanely high and only getting higher. The building layout is confusing which leads to missed or difficult deliveries. 10 out of the 12 months I lived there, the lights in the garbage room on my floor did not work at all and the chutes were clogged more often than not. The building-wide fire alarms were constantly going off. I have a small dog, who was attacked by at least 3 other 60+ pound dogs in the building with owners who “have never seen that happen before” or refused to leash their dog. I didn’t pay the insane price for a spot in the parking garage, so street parking was a bit difficult at times. On top of that, residents who did pay huge monthly fees for bike/car storage dealt with near weekly break-ins. Utilities are billed through a 3rd party service and often overcharge. My dishwasher was broken prior to me moving in and remained broken throughout my tenancy. Also beware that the property was recently bought by Greystar. When I was moving out, they refused to send rental verification to my next property manager due to “Greystar policy,” which literally almost left me without a place to stay."
"Great apartments and friendly leasing agents Cameron, Romie and Ted. They were understanding about issues I faced and would help as much as they could. Maintenances were always done swiftly and promptly. Apartments are spacious, well maintained and appliances are top notch. The neighborhood is safe and gives a very homely feel. Would definitely recommend this apartment to others. 5 stars!"
"Pros: * Location: 5 min walk to downtown Columbia City, 10 minutes to Light rail station, and 20 minutes to Lake Washington * Management generally does seems to care and address issues in a timely manner. Cameron was always very friendly and helpful. * Nice gym and rooftop amenities. * New complex so modern appliances and amenities. Mixed: * Bike storage, garage and mailroom were all broken into at least once during the 1 year I stayed here. However from what I've seen from reviews on other large apartments, this is better than average. * Noise was relatively minimal between units. I could hear mild footstep noise from above and rarely heard other sounds from other units. Could hear some noise from the hallways when people were talking as they walked by. * Things are so well insulated that I never had to turn on the heat in the winter, but on the other hand, it was hard to cool things down in the summer. Units have ports for a single AC hose. Cons: * Took 70+ days and lots of repeated requests for management to finally return my security deposit. Seattle law requires deposits to be returned in 21 days. * Cabinets in the kitchen were not very deep or wide, so it was struggle to find a place to store my pans. * As a new complex, they were still working out several kinks while I lived there. This included not having a working garage gate for several months, no USPS mailboxes for most of the year, several false fire alarms, and an electrical issue with many microwaves that wasn't resolved for several weeks. ------------- Original Review It has currently been over 60 days since my move out and the management at Alta Arlo has yet to return my security deposit. The city of Seattle requires deposits to be returned within 21 days, otherwise they must return the entire deposit. They provided me with a move-out statement that showed there were no damages at move-out, yet after multiple emails over multiple weeks they still haven't returned the security deposit. I will update this review if my deposit is returned."
"I really loved touring the space. It's a beautiful and thoughtfully planned out building. I love all the amenities (especially the gym and co-working spaces) and the apartments were spacious! Marking seemed to be incredibly expensive and our only hesitation about saying YES to this community was all the construction happening on the neighborhood (which is outside of their control). The leasing team is fantastic too!"
