"Juan and Mila made my move in process seamless! Beautiful apartment and amenities. Absolutely love it here."
"Lived here for 12mo from fall 2020 to fall 2021. Don't get the 3 stars wrong - these apartments are great and the management and maintenance team was really attentive. The deduction comes from the parking, move out process, security issues, and a couple small quirks in the unit. The Good: The property is in a great location in QA, easy to get to a lot of things right by Dexter and 99. The apartment itself (1 BR in the townhouse area) was greatly equipped; gas stove and nice kitchen, spacious living room and bedroom, secure entry, decent shared outdoor space, quiet enough (standard neighbor noise), good storage. I had zero problems with management while living here. In fact, maintenance requests were a huge plus, the team here fixed things quickly, with high quality, and I never had an issue getting help. Genuinely enjoyed the maintenance team there. Moving things in/out was fine, depending on your unit. The Bad: The parking was an issue for me. It was standard pricing for this area for a spot in the garage, but still too rich for me regardless. If you can afford it, great. The main issue for me was that your option is to fight for parking on the street in front (~8 total spots) or most frequently down on Dexter. This was fine for a while but became really inconvenient over time as there are a ton of apartment buildings at this end of Dexter. The 1BR units in the townhouse area I was in do not have a window that opens in the bedroom. Your only choice for fresh air in there is to open the door to the back patio, which also opens to the street. There were issues with security and packages being stolen from the mail room. Also reports of loitering and things like that. Be a good neighbor and don't hold the door for people. But it still sucks to have that thought in the back of your head when coming home at night. I called the courtesy security patrol once after seeing someone trying to jump a fence, and the patrol told me they'd be out at their regular scheduled time an hour from then. Didn’t seem to care much that someone was trying to gain access to the property. The move out process wasn't super well defined. After inquiring more, it’s pretty standard all in all. Just didn't get a notice of what to do and everything. You can refer to the info in your lease as well. Be prepared to advocate for yourself on move out charges and fees. This has taken up a significant amount of my time once I received the summary of my expenses. Take your own photos. The payment team eventually worked with me but it was an issue for me for multiple days."
"I didn’t move to the building yet, so my review is based on the staff Bill and Peter who were very responsive and polite. They helped us with our questions and requests. Update: I've been living here for 2 months now and I changed my review. The apartment has great views and decent finishes . However, the building needs a lot of improvements, starting from security. In 2 months I already "lost" 4 packages, I never lost a package before moving here. They are trying to do simple improvements that are not enough. One month ago someone broke in and stole multiples packages, but mines were stolen 2 weeks ago. The building also is not cleaned as much as it should. There is always stuff laying in the entrance ( mail papers, cans, even furniture). So, yes, I'm happy with my apartment because I have the best view, but ESSEX needs to make some improvements in the building overall, minimum security is a must have. Update 2021: Essex has made some improvements that helped a lot with stolen packages. There still improvements to be made, but it is much better."
"It was the worst experience that I had with a leasing agent! I felt so uncomfortable and just wanted to share my experience with others and also the building management (if they care about customer service at all). I was in the neighborhood and saw they are leasing. I knocked on the door, and the guy from the leasing office opened the door, and when I asked for info, he just told me to go through the website and closed the door on me! I booked a self-guided tour and assisted the unit. When I came back to the leasing office to discuss my options, that guy was unwilling to let me in again! At that point, I just decided not to proceed, although the unit and the neighborhood were great."
"We have rented here twice, once in 2011-2013 and once again for 9 months just recently. With Domaine you know what you are getting, a safe environment, close to everything, with a nice gym facility and VIEWS! We have always stayed in the townhouses and have always been blessed with great neighbors and respectful office staff. Facilities are on the mend after a bit of a bad year (2018) from what we heard from our neighbors, and I always felt like we were getting our months rent worth with our space. Highly recommend!"
