"I have no idea what resentment Dr. Hebard has for me but she was medically negligent towards me after delivering my son. She put me through unnecessary pain and discomfort and risked my sons safety. After my son was born, Dr. Hebard began to touch my vaginal area without giving me a verbal warning. Her only words to me were “You need to stay still.” as I writhed in pain from her touching me. She would not tell me when she was going to touch me, and I could not mentally prepare. I was unaware of what she was doing until a nurse stated, “She’s cleaning you up to see how many stitches you need.” I am unaware of what level of tearing I had as the doctor never told me. She also didn’t tell me before she was going to start stitching. I was on a reduced dose of epidural due to vasovagal syncope (my blood pressure would drop dangerously low if I had an increased dose. It was enough to make labor bearable, but still painful.). I was spamming my epi button (which did absolutely nothing), writhing in pain, and begging for mercy. I remember being asked if it was pain/pressure and initially answering pressure, but that changed quickly. I also recall screaming things such as “This isn’t pain, it’s pressure,” and “I can’t do this. Stop, you’re hurting me.” over and over again. Dr Hebard did not care and did not attempt to comfort me or even give me a moment to breathe. (The woman wouldn’t even tell me when she was going to touch me, or why she was touching me though, so the bar was already very low). Eventually my mom stepped in and told her to give me a moment and her reaction was to stare at my mom impatiently, waiting for the go ahead to continue. Didn’t say a damn word. At one point, both of my hands had instinctively left my son so I could grip my bed rails in pain. During this time, my son could’ve easily fallen off of me. On top of this, my first memories with my son are now tainted by knowing I was screaming in his face. I still cry thinking about that, and thinking about how helpless I felt. I am not a lightweight with pain. I’ve gotten tattoos, piercings, hell — I’ve been shot in the eye with a firework. I didn’t even so much as tear up when I was pushing. None of those compare to this. I felt the full extent of every stitch. 4 weeks later and the memory of that morning still haunts me. I’m young, a first time mom, and I’m terrified to ever give birth again. Dr Hebard wasn’t even my OB, but I’m now searching for a new OB because I’m terrified to go into the office and risk seeing her again. I’m being assessed for PTSD as a result of this experience. I don’t know how so many people have positive reviews of her, but please be wary of having her deliver your baby if she wasn’t your OB throughout the pregnancy."
