"Staff is mostly not communicative and usually have to really be willing to patiently wait for answers/resolutions to needs/issues. Stay the course and it will be worth it in the end. Good group of people living here currently. Glad the Civic is here and good it stays and hopefully evolves over time."
"This is no longer a hotel. Some company bought it - and haven't changed the name. Too bad, it was a good place to stay and a reasonable value."
"I am a Co-lead/LEAD participant in a transitional housing type ah program. Since being invited to participate in the transitional housing program, words can not express, describe, or define the CHANGE that living here at the Civic has instilledin me and my life today.... I now have regained my faith in HUMANITY, along with my faith that the future holds an inevitable happy ending for me"
"This hotel is in an excellent location, easy walking distance to the Space Needle and the monorail. The rooms were newly updated IKEA-style, clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were super nice and helpful. HOWEVER... what really got us was the amenity fee for 0 amenities. It’s a hidden extra $25 PER NIGHT that my husband, who made the booking, hadn’t seen. We had food delivered one night and it didn’t come with utensils. Well, the front desk didn’t have any either so we ended up eating with only plastic knives from the bottom of my purse. They say they provide filtered water on every floor, but like... shouldn’t all water in hotels be drinkable? That’s not an amenity, it’s a basic. There’s no gym, no pool, literally nothing that would justify an amenity fee. We were “allowed” to keep the slippers and plastic water bottle from our room- the slippers fell apart within a week at home and well now I have a $50 plastic bottle from our 2 night stay. It’s a shame because the hotel was honestly a nice place to stay, but the hidden fees left a really, really bad taste in our mouths."
"Hotel is nicely remodeled and looks great. However, there is a $27 amenity fee (included taxes) which is added on so the hotel can advertise a lower price and then charge you more when you check out. The amenity fee covers things like a small keurig coffee maker in the lobby, no breakfast, a unfiltered/refrigerated water fountain (or water bottle refilling station) in the hallway rather than water bottles in the room.... etc. I had a room that had a constant knocking sound in the walls due to some water running. I could hear when the neighbors above ran the shower or flushed the toilet, as the water rushing sound was going through the pipes in the walls. I wanted to drown it out by turning the AC fan to always run. but that was not an option. I could turn it on Auto and crank the AC or Heat up super high to make it run, or lay in silence listening to the water run through the pipes in the walls. It was about 35 degrees outside, and the floors in the bathroom felt almost as cold. Anyways, the bed was fine and the room looked great. Lots of small annoyances that you overlook when you are just look for a low cost place to stay. Though it probably wasn't the cheapest option when hit with the $27 amenity fee when checking out. The guy in front of me was surprised too, so obviously this is not well advertised or expected by guests."
