"I agree with Lizzie. Our family had an absolute magical experience when we got snowed in at this house in Christmas of 2021 ! So much character, and in my opinion expertly renovated. We stayed comfortable in all of the rooms and the kitchen was perfect to prepare our Christmas dinner !"
"Not sure why the last person that reviewed this property had negative things to say. It's a historic building. To complain about the original windows not functioning well, and just all the other small things was absurd to read. Don't stay in a historic home in a town with a population of less than 500 and expexr a 5 star hotel. Everything that was listed, was essentially living as if you were in a historic setting. Not like people in those homes back then could readily fix those items. Not to mention, where do you get replacements in the middle of nowhere?"
"Our family has stayed in many Historic BNB's. This home is absolutely Historic. Unfortunately, our expectations were higher. I have listed some Pros and Cons below to hopefully get the owners to bring this home up to a basic standard before another family has a poor experience. Pros ⦁ Many Games ⦁ Skateboard swing was a hit for the kids ⦁ Fishing pole and lures provided by Host for local fishing ⦁ Piano ⦁ Movies ⦁ firepit ⦁ BBQ ⦁ Candy and flowers provided from Host ⦁ Bathrooms were the cleanest part of the home minus the exhaust fan. Cons ⦁ Home is in disrepair ⦁ broken glass laying around outside "not flipflop friendly" ⦁ A window pane was broken and left in place with new glass put over it. This left a potential for glass to fall from the second story. Danger ⦁ Historic window weights are missing which make it dangerous to use the windows. ⦁ Wasp nests on back porch ⦁ Spiders nesting on most Windows ⦁ unfitted screens allowing all bugs and rodents open entry ⦁ Heat was unbearable to sleep even with fans setup to try and push cold air upstairs as recommended by Host ⦁ Mold/Mildew smell in the kitchen due to basement mold. ⦁ Cabinets are all in need of a deep clean for fear of rodent contamination "entry through unfitted screens" ⦁ Dogfood and dog bone found in bedrooms from previous guests ⦁ Grass was not cut ⦁ Flowerbeds were not weeded and housed only wildflowers in the front of the home The Host tried using the Historic status of the home as a shroud for a property that is unmaintained and not thoroughly cleaned. We all received spider bites while sleeping. Disheartening."
