"This people want to charge whatever they feel like charging. I had to call my insurance to call them Twice because they didn’t believe me and they wanted me to charge me all my deductible even though I only to pay a $30 copay. They also wanted to charge us $50 extra for certain materials that I thought that they were going to give to my son to take home but it was for “materials they use To do the evaluation”. I was present with my son and they literally only used paper to write down things about him. They also threatened me to send me to collections and to charge me Extra fees if I didn’t comply with their (false and ilegal) claims of payments, without even sending the claim to the insurance first. Then they told me they were going to charge me extra fees if I didn’t pay for it and because I didn’t pay at the time of the service even though nobody asked me at reception that I had to pay anything. And this is only a week after my son had the appointment. By the way they also cancelled the first appointment an hour before going there and of course I was ready to get out of the house when they called. If you don’t want to have hours of insurance call and people who treat you like you are stealing from them, stay away as far as you can."
"A scam company, period ! They run the service to just making money and trust me you don’t want your kiddo to face their mis diagnosis and they would do so, so that they can use it to make money. They will share their diagnosis and make things up to fit their curve for diagnosis where some of them are blatant lie and if you push them they will say “it’s what we think, you can take it or leave it”. If you quote cdc website which says 80/20 rule as an indicator for calling something true, they will use the spectrum as wiggle term to substantiate their decision. The evaluationist was always on a web call. The one done in their center had a nurse who gave opposite details to what was shared in the final prognosis. Please do your kids and yourself a favor by not going to this scam."
"The therapists are wonderful; the administration is a mess. The therapist care so much for the kiddos but they are over worked and have a chaotic administration. We have been assigned to multiple therapists who quit due to burnout and then we are placed back on a waiting list for therapy, so we cannot receive consistent services. In addition, I signed up my child for an aquatics program that was so poorly organized it was cancelled regularly and the company tried to cram two sessions in one session make up sessions (insurance fraud?) after paying a $200 fee to participate. Again the staff are great but the administration does not appear to support them well. One time I called and they had no idea we were even participating in an aquatics program. When you think you have found a consistent schedule of support, it changes in an instant due to turn over. When dealing with kiddos that need extra love and attention, this is simple not okay. I have called with my concerns, but instead of a call back I receive canned/impersonal email responses that do not support our family during a difficult transition."
"So I have some very good things to say about ICAN and some very bad things to say about them. First we saw Dr. Reilly and he was truly fantastic, he gave us our first diagnosis of ASD for our son and could not have been more compassionate. We needed to come back in one year and chose to see him even though he was out of our insurance network because he was so good. I highly recommend Dr. Reilly. I can't say the same about the billing department or the cost of the program. First they make you pay at time of service instead of billing your insurance first then billing you (that was $500 and hour for Dr. Reilly). You are required to keep a credit card on file which they will charge the day of service (even if you don't actually owe them the money). We knew that it would be expensive to see these folks but we we were set up for ABA therapy without a real financial consultation. The first visit by the ABA coordinator was $400 (this was a two hour visit). There were a few times that we had both the ABA therapist and the ABA coordinator at our house for a total of $300 an hour! In only two weeks of services we were charged a large amount without them ever saying hey, maybe since these people have an average income we should discuss this with them first. Nope! There was something in the beginning that said how much we would be charged per hour, but because of their billing practices we were over charged on multiple occasions and then had to fight to be refunded by our insurance. Getting services and dealing with insurance is confusing and difficult, the process at ICAN does not help. The only reason I was able to give three stars was because of the actual care my son received, which was fantastic."
"Our family have been clients of Lakeside Center for Autism since the summer of 2010. At that point, our son who has an ASD diagnosis had outgrown the early intervention program that he attended previously, and by four years-old, he was needing a therapy provider that could serve him better. We had heard of Lakeside from other families, and decided it was worth the commute to provide our son such spectacular care. In the two years we've been here, they've not disappointed. We've gone on to have Newt's three other siblings evaluated, as they've presented developmental delays, as well. They've provided prompt and organized service in scheduling, which can be complicated with a family of four children all receiving services. The quality of their therapeutic services was excellent to begin with, but they've steadily improved things over the last two years. They've added psychological services with the addition of Dr. Reilly, and that's streamlined the evaluation process (something we experienced before and after his addition to the staff). They've since added in-home therapy services, and recently, ABA therapy. We know what a gem Lakeside is, especially because our large family can be completely served, all under one roof, well past the early intervention stage. That's a rarity in autism care, and we know it, and are very thankful for their care!"
