Franciscan Lactation Services
About the Business
Franciscan Lactation Services, located at 1717 South J Street in Tacoma, Washington, is a health institution that specializes in providing maternity care and support for delivering moms. As part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, we prioritize your peace of mind and overall well-being throughout your pregnancy and beyond. With over 30 years of experience in family education, our certified childbirth educators offer a range of in-person and online classes to help you prepare for the arrival of your baby.
Our free downloadable maternity guide, "Having Your Baby with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health," serves as a comprehensive resource for expectant mothers. Additionally, we work in collaboration with WIC, a federally funded program that provides nutritional support to low-income pregnant women and families in Washington state. Nearly half of all babies in the state benefit from WIC assistance, and we are here to help eligible families access these resources.
Through our partnership with Step By Step, a local community agency, we also offer support to at-risk pregnant women during and after childbirth. Together, we strive to empower women to deliver healthy babies, embrace their roles as parents, and build promising futures. At Franciscan Lactation Services, we are committed to providing the care and resources you need to navigate the journey of motherhood with confidence and support.

Reviews
"If I followed the advice we received here I would likely be exclusively pumping. I went to Fern lactation for a 2nd opinion and was given advice that contradicted what I was told here, and I was able to nurse easily within a couple of weeks."
"Only two lactation consultants here were actually friendly and knowledgeable. Both of them were per diem though so it was very hard to get an appointment with them. One was named Kristin and the other I can't remember her name but she was a Hispanic woman. I also got my son's posterior tongue tie released here by Cheryl White (twice) and I don't not recommend her at all."
"Our baby learned to feed perfectly right after birth, and we were given bad medical advice to not introduce bottle feeding until after three months. Our baby has grown out of the feeding reflex and now chooses to not take the bottle and it is impossible to feed him when the mother is off at work to the detriment of baby and caregiver. I would be cautious about visiting this outpatient service and perhaps use another."
"Debbie was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. As new parents we didn't really know much in this department. I highly recommend making the time for working with these warm and thoughtful experts."
