"I was intending on having a very natural birth at an out-of-hospital birth center, but plans changed when I developed preeclampsia at 38 weeks and had to proceed with an induction at St. Michael's Family Birth Center. Needless to say, it was a nervewracking change of plans. However all of the doctors and nurses were wonderful. They respected my birth plan and allowed me to make informed choices regarding my care. In the end I required a c-section, but I definitely feel like the doctors first tried everything possible to make my goal of a more natural delivery happen. Thank you Dr McMillan and team for a good experience despite the less than ideal circumstances."
"I went to this place bc my water broke at 17 weeks and I started bleeding. The registration guy and lady were nice. He called the nurse to let them know i was checking in. So they were aware. My wife came in finished my registration so I could go to the back. I waited in the triage room for 20 mins. No one came in to see me or check or me or triage me NOTHING. I literally had blood all over my clothes the bathroom etc. If time was of the essence they DON'T have it. Then eventually Victoria came to the room n said i will send this blood through the tube station and i will come. Then Victoria came in and asked me what happened. I told her and she asked me the same question more than once. YES the sac came out. YES I seen it, just get me a doc. Then she said all nonchalantly let me go get the doc and just slowly walked out of the room. Everything was done in the triage room. I finally got a room in the back once I was admitted.. once I got to the back things were different once they found out I was a nurse that worked at that hospital. The other nurses were great. Brittany an Cassandra were both my favorite. Brittany was def welcoming. Cassandra took really great care of my when I lost over 1k of blood. She literally stayed by my side the entire time until I was stable. Anna was really good too. She was def informative. Now Docs. McMullen was my absolute favorite. She answered ALLLLL of my questions. She came in to check on me multiple times. No one from my OBGYN group ( Kitsap obgyn) came to see me. The on call doc was notified the night i went in. No on came in. I was told my doc or someone from the group would come see me.. no one seen me the next day. The day after Sam came to see me when i damn near bleed to death. I was very very disappointed and will NOT be going back to that office. Sam the NP came to see me once they called her when I loss >1k of blood. She was amazing and super sweet. She was def by my side. I just feel like I shouldn't have waited days to see someone from my OBGYN. I also sent them a message the night i went in. No one responded to my message or even called me. It was just an absolute awful experience. If my wife or I ever got pregnant again we would NEVER go there. I got transferred to Udub for a major procedure. I had the BEST experience of my life there. That is the ONLY place I would go or recommend for OB care."
"If you are contemplating a home birth, do that instead of coming here. After receiving my bill after giving birth, the bill showed an over 3 grand charge for the nursery, shown for two different days. My child was never in the nursery. From the moment I birthed her until we went home my baby was with me the whole time. I spoke with staff (to dispute those charges) and was told "it was the level of care that was received", even if my child was never in the nursery. Just another way to squeeze more money from people. Greedy. My spouse was there too, and the staff gave him vouchers for meals, but the place wasn't open to get food! They said the coupons where good for a year, but why would I want to come back? The hospital isn't a place to hang out! The birth was a quite the experience, but the aftermath of charging for the nursery-that never happened and the meal tickets that could not be used (when in the hospital) would make me want to seek another place to give birth if I was to have another."
"Front desk lady at the family birth center entrance was rude and unprofessional. Made my daughter's children cry. They came to visit their new sibling but wasn't allowed back because they weren't biological siblings. She proceeded to raise her voice and told me to leave ."
"I was scheduled for an induction which they don’t tell you that when you schedule it you can get pushed back another day if others are scheduled the same day as well. That personally was a bit stressful & could’ve been communicated better. But considering our baby decided to come naturally on induction day, I have to rave about the delivery nurse, Melissa. She made my delivery incredibly easy. She’s full of encouragement, positivity, & communicates everything. Rachel in the postpartum area lacked meeting our needs when needing something. Multiple times she said she would come right back and wouldn’t be back for 45 mins or not at all. Gina did a wonderful job when switching out and worked on getting us out of the hospital asap! She communicated with us & took care of our needs! Overall a positive experience here."
