"great lumber and a long standing reputation of quality building lumber material. the Manke staff that i met say it's the best company and that Manke takes the best care of their employees, except that starting shift isn't the safest thing... if i could give the railroad crosswalk 5 stars i would. go Manke! for decades many of Manke's workers run across the 5 lanes or the 509 without a crosswalk. why the city and the neighborhood tolerate such a big money making company overlooking their yard workers' safety. i knew a couple Manke staff and they have to bring some of their own tools, and arrive early because of the 5 lanes of human frogger they're forced to cross during commute traffic. it's sad upper management doesnt step-up and build a simple crosswalk for the Tacoma lumber yard employees. what's wrong with this picture? in other countries south of the border, a huge company such as Manke would be mandated to build a pedestrian overpass. but sadly not in Tacoma, WA.... they make lumberyard workers dodge across highway traffic twice a day or more."
