Reviews of Wynwoods Gallery & Bead Studio
"I LOVE LOVE LOVE! this store!!!! They have a huge selection of beads and jewelry. The Prices are incredible and the owner, Lois is very friendly, knowledgable and professional always! I recommend her store to anyone wanting a gift for someone or beading supplies for themselves! Port Townsend is very lucky to have such a wonderful establishment!"
"Saw some girls being accused of stealing. The man was very rude to them as they were proving their innocence. I am disappointed in this shop."
"The male owner of the shop was very hostile to me and my friend as soon as we walked in. In contrast, he was very welcoming to the other white customers that entered the store. He was watching us almost obsessively the entire time we were there and seemed annoyed when I asked to see something that was in the case. After taking a look, I decided against purchasing the item that I was looking at, as the ring was too small for me. I thanked him for getting it out of the case and he accused me of stealing. It is important to note that he required me to come to the front of the store to try them on, which is understandable. However, he did not ask the white women who wished to look at earrings only mere minutes before me. I calmly explained to him that I had not and emptied my pockets onto the counter and told him he was welcome to look through my small purse. He insisted that I stole one of the rings even after I politely showed him everything inside my purse. No sort of an apology was given and I promptly left, as racist establishments do not deserve my business. I would highly recommend to avoid this place if you are a minority, unless you want to be accused of stealing!"
"We were having a lovely time in Port Townsend, in fact, it was our favorite port of call until we had two negative experiences, the first being this shop and hearing how horrible cruise patrons are. We did not "eavesdrop". We could not help but hear the shop owner bash us as she openly spoke across the counter to another patron. We went into this shop for two reasons: one they have heart ornaments hanging and we purchase one annually as a family tradition and two we do craft and make items with beads and thought it would be nice to perhaps purchase some we would not normally have available. Just own it....you spoke openly, loudly about how awful cruise patrons are and you were overheard by said patron. Deflection is gross. We all "make mistakes" and growth comes from recognizing, owning and adjusting. We gave 2 stars instead of 1 because you were very informative and nice while speaking with us directly, however you made it perfectly clear you do not care for cruise tourists. AND because of that you lost a sale with us. I only make a habit of leaving reviews when experiences are really good or really bad. Your response to my original review makes my point. Lady who runs the shop spend several minutes telling another customer how horrible the cruise ship customers were...how they did not buy anything, they did not "even use the bathroom" and they did nothing. Then she noticed myself and my daughter, with our cruise ship badges and was very kind to us. Not sure what someone on vacation would buy beads to make projects BUT after hearing how horrible she felt about the cruise patrons, we just wanted to leave the entire town. Did not feel welcomed in Port Townsend and would not recommend or return."
