"I've unfortunately had to have 4 root canals in my life so far. I am NOT afraid of the dentist and have had years of needing care to my teeth, but my first 2 root canals were so horrible that the idea of having the 3rd was terrifying. I not only had post procedural pain, but also developed a pounding all encompassing pain throughout my head that took days and a lot of narcotics to resolve. Previous doctors treated me like I was over exaggerating my discomfort, just prescribed meds and made me feel like I just had to deal. 10 years ago I needed it done again and was referred to the Center for Endontics for my 3rd. Not only was the staff exceptional at easing my anxiety about my previous experience, but they did an exceptional job. I did develop the pounding pain again, but was quickly seen post op and was educated about why I was having that pain. The canal was draining and building pressure behind a temporary cap they place to prevent debris from getting in to the canal while the inflammation subsides and before they fill it permanently. Dr. West removed the cap and had me keep the area clean. This immediately decreased the pain and I did not need to take narcotics or suffer through days of discomfort. A few days ago I developed a toothache that I recognized as a root canal being in my immediate future. Not only did they get me in very quickly, they fixed it same day and with their expertise knew they could complete the procedure permanately as well. I am 7 month pregnant and was nervous about needing antibiotics and/or narcotics this time around since I did not want to take them if necessary. They let me know the tooth would be sore for a few days, but felt they had caught the problem early enough and would not need further treatment, but assured me that they would follow up if I developed any symptoms post procedure. It has been 24hrs and I am having very little discomfort that I do not even feel tylenol is necessary. I was so impressed 10 years ago with the West's practice, but this times experience has only solidified that I will never have a root canal anywhere else again and will be recommending them to everyone I know."
