"Ordered a turbo to be shipped 3 days ago, stil hasn’t shipped and no answer from Kent since then. And unfortunately the turbo was already paid"
"Won't even provide me a receipt for repairs he made me pay cash for. I drove all the way to his shop as he told me the repairs to my turbo were completed. I showed up to find out that the solenoid I had approved to replace was not installed. The guy helping me said I had to pay for the part before they could order it? Why not tell me that before I drive an hour to pick up the turbo? I would have gladly paid him for it so he could install it and have a completed turbo when picking up. Instead, I was forced to install a part that I paid him to install. I have been asking for a receipt now for a few weeks with no response. I emailed, text messages and left a voicemail. Make sure to get everything in writing if you decide to work with this business. He quoted me $600 plus parts. I agreed. Then he sent me an invoice for $1,150. I called asking why it was that much. He said well I told you it was $600 plus $300 for some part in the turbo that is needed every time. He did not tell me this. If so, why would he have ever mentioned $600. He should have sold it as $900 plus unforseen parts. I mentioned this to him and he told me to stop lecturing him, he's old enough to be my dad. I think Ken should stick to building the turbos and leave the business side to someone that knows how to bid jobs and work with the general public. Beware if you use this business as you will likely be frustrated in the end. Not once did he tell me I had to pay cash. Only when I asked him about the billing did he then say, now I am requiring you to pay cash and retracted the invoice he sent to my email that allowed me to pay with a card. Pretty shady business practices."
"Hands down best experience I've had with ANY automotive related company around. Kent and his team were very professional, and more than willing to build whatever needed to happen! Very knowledgeable, and taught me so much. I was walked through the shop and he hand picked and showed me every single piece that was going to be incorporated into my custom turbo build. This will not be my last turbo from Kent and his experts! I would highly recommend this company for any of your turbo needs! Can't wait for a set of twins for my truck now!"
"Been dealing with Kent for about 4 years now and have ordered dozens of turbos and let me tell you, they have all delivered phenomenal results and I’ll continue to buy from the best. His compressor wheels performance is unmatched by any. Customer service is always stellar and Max is an awesome builder as well. Looking forward to the next few hundred performance turbos. Keep up the great work!"
"Kent Barnes is truly a class act. What he did for me was the epitome of what real customer service and dedication one has to the craft. He truly loves his work and is not in it just for the money. I'm based in the Philippines and I read about Kent Barnes and his amazing work on modifying turbos through a local tuner-friend (Jed Neri).I needed to replace my ATP GTX3076 turbo in my STI due to oil leak issues possibly related to the clocking process I did to it all by myself several years back to redirect the oil drain pipe a few degrees.Turbo was not brand new anymore when I reclocked it so I may have broken off the seals. I got in touch with ATP to order and requested if they could clock the center housing for me before shipping it out. This was denied (I expected this) so I tried to reach out to Kent for help. In spite of our 15 hour time difference, Kent responded all to my questions via private messaging promptly and comprehensively. I felt very comfortable in our exchanges and I knew that this guy was a professional and truly cared for his customers. Monetary gain was never in his intentions. I offered to order the turbo through him to gain his business. Unfortunately, some issues prevented him from sourcing out the particular turbo so he offered that I purchase the turbo myself and then just have it shipped to him and he will do the clocking. What shocked me was that since it was just a simple process for him, he offered to do it for free out of his own generosity. Truly such a gesture is rare in today's environment where everyone is ready to capitalize on just about any procedure or favor that is to be asked. Once the turbo arrived at his place, he quickly took it out of its packaging, took pictures, then sent it to me promptly. He then quickly clocked the turbo to my specifications and this was done in real time while we exchanged messages and pictures via facebook messenger. Amazing! I asked one more favor if he could check on the IWG calibration and see what would be the cracking and full open pressures for the waste gate. He promptly gave me those values. I relayed it to my local tuner here and he requested to adjust the preload to obtain a higher cracking pressure. Kent did this right away on his own, asked if everything was okay, and got everything ready for shipping. Small business owners like Kent with such a dedication and passion to their craft and work ethics are a dying breed. I'm glad to have met a person like Kent and I highly recommend him to everyone. I hope I get the opportunity to visit your shop one day just as Jed did. Thank you for everything."
