"My experience so far at this dental practice tells me to run and find another provider with staff that can offer accurate, transparent billing and treatment policies in advance. At my first appointment in May 2023 for a dental exam by Dr. Lee, I was told that I would need a crown and I was given a printed estimate for a 2-part treatment plan . In September, the first part to prepare the tooth for a crown took 3 hours instead of 2 , as scheduled , due to Dr. Lee having to work on several patients with only 1 dental assistant available that day. After the prep was done, I was presented with a new estimate that increased my out-of-pocket share from $620 to $639. I asked why it changed, and I was told that there was a mistake made by the previous billing clerk. It would have been only fair and reasonable for them to take responsibility for their mistake, to cover the difference, instead of passing it on to me . In October, a permanent crown was put in place, and once again, I was blindsided with a new bill showing a balance of $ 776.30. I had already made a $119.50 payment after the 1st part, so that my total out-of-pocket share was now $895.80 vs. the original $620 . Jordan in billing explained that my insurance declined to pay for a core buildup, and that I had to appeal to my insurance personally, if I wanted to avoid paying all of the added cost. I've been to multiple dental offices in my life, and never had a billing person tell me to do their job. My insurance representative pointed out that a similar procedure called post & core using a different billing code is covered, and advised that I request the dental office to submit a corrected claim with the appropriate code. Luckily, Jordan did this on my request, received insurance payment as a result, and subsequently sent a refund check to me for overpayment. I returned in early November to get my new crown adjusted by Dr. Lee, who ground down a back molar to reset my bite, and instructed me to see her again if I had any other issues with the fit. Shortly after this visit, I noticed more frequent headaches with my nightguard that had actually fit me quite well before I got the crown. I decided to wait for my scheduled cleaning appointment on Nov. 8th to see if Dr. Lee could help. However, she was out of the office that day, so the hygienist recommended that I make another appointment for further adjustment. At the next appointment on Nov. 29, Dr. Lee was unable to help, and suggested checking with the nightguard manufacturer. As I left the office, Kathy the receptionist, attempted to bill me for the visit, but Jordan made a motion to both Kathy and me , indicating that no payment was required. I agreed with this, as the consultation was a result of the new crown not fitting with a nightguard that I had previously used without a problem . The last straw, the reason for me posting this review was a bill I received on Christmas Eve for $84, supposedly for a " consultation to obtain a 2nd opinion" . Dr. Lee was out of the office at my Nov. 8 cleaning appointment for me to followup with her on further adjustments with the crown, consequently requiring another visit. Therefore, the visit should not be billed to me, and Jordan certainly gave me the impression that she understood this to be the case when she motioned to Kathy not to present a bill . Unable to reach anybody at the dental office over the holidays, I left several voicemails to dispute the bill . Jordan eventually returned my call, stating adamantly that all appointments must be billed, despite my explanation and protestations . When I asked if I could sort this out directly with Dr. Lee, I was told that I should be prepared to be billed for an appointment to speak with the doctor. Ultimately, there has to be a clarification on this matter, but it seems likely that I would have to pay another bill to clear it up with the doctor, if it were only up to her billing manager."
"Terrible with scheduling! Appointments 6 months out, then cancelling or writing down the wrong day. Very unreliable!"
"I submitted my insurance and they said it was all covered then 3 weeks later after my appointment I get a bill for $504 saying my insurance is not covering anything because it is "out of network". I asked when I submitted my insurance 3 months before the appointment, I asked again when I arrived and they said it was all covered. This office is nothing more than a money making machine and not honest at all. They obviously never confirmed with my insurance. Please check with your own insurance before going to them."
"Kitsap Dental! Dr. Jeff Wells and dental assistant Erika are fantastic! I do not go to the dentist very often because I don't need a ton of dental work. So making an appointment for me conjures up a lot of thoughts of long waits in the lobby, long waits in the chair etc. Not at Kitsap Dental - the first two times I went there for a crown I was even seated early! They were very fast, professional and kind. The actual crown itself is like I never had work done at all. All the staff, Dr. Wells and Erika deserve a 5 star review from me - nice work folks!! It's refreshing to have such fast professional service!! Rob"
"I had a dental emergency and the staff was able to get me in the very next day. I was given all of my options before my procedure and even told what was happening during. They took amazing care of making me feel comfortable and informed the entire time. The kindness I was shown during my visit means that I will 100% be back in the future. They entire staff was amazing but Dr. Billingsley was above and beyond. I have had some very negative experiences with dentistry in the past and felt calm the entire procedure."
