"The staff is great! Very friendly and courteous. I was seen by a tech who took x-rays, the dentist and hygienist. All three did a phenomenal job of communicating to me what they were doing and the results of their findings. They showed me where I needed to improve on my brushing and flossing. I left feeling like I found a permanent dentist! Most importantly they are open on Fridays!"

"What a wonderful doctor and staff! I was not already a patient there but they worked me in when I needed semi-urgent care. They were accommodating to my needs and put me at ease through the whole process. They went above and beyond when I had an issue with my contract lens during my dental visit. Many thanks to Dr. Lingam, Erin, and the lady at the front desk (I'm sorry I didn't get your name). The only thing is, if you need the handicapped parking spot for any reason other than needing extra space for a wheelchair, scooter, or walker, (bad back but not in a wheelchair, have asthma and need to avoid smokers in the parking lot, etc) it is better to park on the opposite side of the building from where the handicap accessible parking is because that's where the door is. Anyway, they made going to the dentist a painless, pleasant experience."

"After leaving the Olympia Smiles practice off of Yelm Highway due to my husband’s negative experience with the office, I was surprised to receive a bill by mail in my name that included a charge for a mouth guard that I never requested or was fitted for, much less received. I had been pressured multiple times in the past by Olympia Smiles to purchase the item in question, but had declined repeatedly and instead purchased a less expensive version on Amazon. It was necessary to call the office multiple times to have approximately $500-worth of charges (this item was not covered by my insurance) disassociated with my account. Had I not opened that envelope based on the knowledge that it wasn’t possible for me to be associated with an outstanding balance (they don’t accept gradual payment plans and ask for any out of pocket payment up front after each procedure), I imagine I would have eventually been sent to collections for a an item I did not receive. In the course of this interaction with reception, I also discovered that I’d been over billed in the past without notification and the office owed me a “credit.” They eventually credited the money back to my card, but why wouldn’t they have done that in the first place, or at least have reached out to me to communicate that information? They are first and foremost a business concerned with profit. Advocate for yourself, ALWAYS check your bill for fraudulent charges (call and ask them to go through it line by line if necessary) and be aware of predatory pressure to have work done that is diagnosed as “urgent” and outside of what your insurance covers. Get a second opinion before moving forward. As I mention above, this issue was ultimately resolved due to my vigilance, however, it’s the type of situation that tells you a lot about a practice and is information worth knowing if you are considering Olympia Smiles."
