"I saw an advertisement for a used vehicle and contacted Derek Downing, a salesman at Honda of Bellingham for more details. I told Derek that I was a serious buyer and that I was not interested in the common dealership games. Derek assured me that he would treat me well and respect my intelligence. A full Car Facts report was given to me on this vehicle. The next day I visited the dealership as I had promised. I took Derek along for the test drive, as I was unfamiliar,liar with the area. Derek was sincere, appeared honest, and hardworking. We got back to the dealership and Derek went directly to work on the offer I was looking to agree to. I asked for a bit more on my trade-in and Derek secured that for me. He wrote up the deal and got his approvals. Now it was time to meet with finance, even though I was not financing the deal. I reminded Derek about my "no games" policy. He assured me things would go smooth. I then met with Jeff the finance guy. He had all the documents in order and played no games. We penned the deal 100% as agreed and I drove the car off the lot. After 3-4 hours of use, a steady engine light came on. I immediately drove to my mechanic and his computer identified a defective 02 sensor. He said the part was pricey from Ford and the job would cost me $250 to replace the one sensor indicated, and close to $500 to replace two. I had signed an "As Is" contract with Honda of Bellingham, but I called Derek anyway, given the short use. Without hesitation, Derek said he would drive a loaner to my office in the morning and swap with me. Just as promised, Derek showed up at my office with a new, loaded Honda SUV with 4K miles on it and we made the trade. In two days time, Derek drove my vehicle to my office, along with documentation to show replacement of the broken sensor. I've had zero problems since the repairs, and I have nothing but the highest regards for Derek Downing and Honda of Bellingham. This is how all dealerships should operate...with integrity. Your competition would do well taking a page from your playbook, as I've not had this kind if experience with other Bellingham dealerships. Thank you!"
