"Didn't stay here, but was curious so walked by. The hotel is situated on an old pier in between the trolley and the bay. There are sea lions nearby and you can hear the calls often. The sauna tubs look great in the photos but in person these are tiny. Maybe six feet in diameter and about as deep. I would feel cramped with two people. One of the doors didn't fit well so probably wouldn't get very hot. Glad I didn't pay for a stay here, I would have been disappointed."
"Needed to get the heck out of town for some fun with my BF. Astoria was the perfect town and the Bowline was the perfect place to stay. Located in the heart of it all we didn't need to use our car once we got to the hotel. The room was gorgeous and the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to leave. The hotel is located on the pier so we got a little noise from the neighbors ( Sea Lions) but they are so entertaining and its such a unique experience that their barking did not hinder our enjoyment at all. The soaking tub in the room and the infrared sauna at the edge of the pier were highlights as were the common spaces and the Knot Bar ( get an old fashion and watch the ships go by). Truly a magical experience. Can't wait to go back. Thanks to all the great staff at Bowline. See you all real soon!"
"We just spent 2 nights at the Bowline, and we loved it!! Such a warm, cozy spot, right over the water. The amenities were lovely. The service was excellent throughout the entire weekend. Having a French press for in-room coffee was wonderful, and maybe my favorite part Sunday morning, after drinking dark beers all day on Saturday. I was honestly shocked at how warm and cozy the room was. Having a gas fireplace was a delight! My BF did check out the saunas, and he loved the easy access. The front desk used text messaging to communicate additional amenities, housekeeping, etc., and it was really well done. The room was comfortable and a nice respite after standing in the rain and wind for 8 hours. I have only a very specific complaint, as a short female with very long hair, that shower head, which I am certain is amazing if you're a tall man, was not ideal, I need a much more powerful spray, or a handheld so I can rinse my hair. That minor complaint aside, we will definitely be back. We highly recommend the Bowline!"
"Exceptional. Wife booked a getaway trip for my birthday and the Bowline was fantastic. A few noticeable bright spots: Rooms were spacious and very chic; a bathtub in the main room was actually pretty awesome; ordered drinks and room service and the staff were super accommodating and friendly; used one of the outdoor saunas which was great; absolutely loved the view - so gorgeous; and you can’t review the bowline without a shoutout to the seals - really made for a unique atmosphere! Also, it’s close to a lot of great restaurants. Looking forward to our return trip!"
"The Bowline Hotel is the best place to stay in Astoria. It is perfectly placed on the scenic waterfront, walkable to all of downtown and easy to find fun local spots. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Absolutely spring for the waterfront views, it is the experience you want. Many reviews mention the Sea Lion presence and noise. I have to say, as an animal lover, that was part of the charm. Above everything, the staff was so warm, fun and personable. Heidi, Hope and Kat truly made our stay extraordinary. They gave us local hand recommendations and represented their town in such a positive way. It’s rare you want to spend more time in your hotel to just hang with the people that work there. I feel like we made new friends and we will def be back. Thank you to everyone at the Bowline for making our first visit to Astoria so memorable."
