"This place is just absolutely Amazing! The team working here goes above and beyond every time I take on a DIY project. Great stock of often hard-to-find parts that the big stores don't carry. I had an old Kohler shower faucet replacement project and three of the guys there helped me beyond what I would expect. Incredible customer service always!! Thank you!"
"TLDR: Don't go if you want a helpful staff member who is genuinely interested in you or your project. Do go if you're a professional plumber who does not need any customer service and want to pay a premium. I usually try to patronize local businesses instead of Amazon or big box stores, even if it's more expensive, because I think it's important to keep small businesses alive. I had just bought a toilet seat with a potty-training seat attached for my son who is learning to use the toilet but needed specialty screws to install it on a skirted toilet. I called Aurora Plumbing and they said they carried them, so I went in. Like others have experienced, I was treated like an idiot by the guy working the counter. When he asked about a name for the invoice, I gave him my name but offered "I don't need an invoice, unless you need to create one." He responded dripping with sarcasm "Uh, yeah... we have to keep track of our sales," as if I had suggested they didn't need any type of inventory management versus just saying I didn't need a receipt. I thought maybe it was just me, but he ignored a couple questions I asked about using this type of screw, so I pointedly asked, "Are there instructions in the package?" He responded with so much annoyance in his tone "If you want me to google it for you and print it out, I will." "Um, thanks, I can google it myself," I said, and left. There are instructions with the screws, but I am having a hard time installing them as the rubber part doesn't hold the screw tightly and the toilet seat slides all over. Really wish I had gotten to talk to a helpful plumber at the plumbing store!"
"I went down there with parts from an old corner toilet thinking I would never find the parts. Long drive, best results imaginable! I walked in and a parts person named Travis asked if he could help me. I handed him a shopping bag full of the parts, plus a toilet seat. He came up with the parts and and a full explanation of installation procedures for each item. He even found a seat to match! He was concise, pleasant and totally helpful/patient with me. I had shopped there years ago, and things had not changed. It is still the best plumbing parts store around. Yes the trip all the way from Arlington to North Seattle was well worth it. What a knowledgeable customer oriented company, with a welcoming and well trained employee base. I am obviously an old and semi physically impaired person, they held the door for me, and their genuine smiles made my day! Went home and within an hour had a brand new old toilet! Thanks Travis M and all of the employees! I will be back! Kind Regards, Steve"
"Even though you pay twice what you would at the box stores, I used to find it worth the time I would save with knowledgeable, friendly, helpful staff. ..but no more. Today I was treated like an idiot because I didn't know what brand toilet the fill valve I had in my hand came from. The employee compared it to asking for a car part without knowing what car it came from (not even close to the same.) I offered to make a call and find out, but like I thought, it didn't matter... he grabs the 'universal' one and he says it will work. ...I double checked, and yes, they charged more than double what the the box stores do for the exact same part (same brand, same model #)"
"I give Aurora Plumbing about 5 years TOPS, before they go under. I think I'd be sad about it if it didn't seem like I was getting ripped off in a weird way. If you get sticker shock at the 100% mark up, you're not the only one. The service here is TERRIBLE, no one wants to be here and it's like pulling teeth talking to them. The service and "expertise" is supposed to justify said mark up. It does not. Five. Years."
