"My favorite place to browse, I always find a treasure that i didn't know I needed... great bargains and a very worthy use of the donations and profits. The dedicated volunteers are lovely."
"One of the things we enjoy when traveling is stopping at Thrift Stores and antique stores. HIS supper is a fun place to stop and we usually find something "we can't live without." Several times we have found something we have been looking for. They have friendly and helpful people, providing competent the most important customer oriented service. And they made me feel safe with their Covid precautions."
"Caring, considerate people...one elder lady checking me out wouldn't let me go to my car to get a couple more dollars for these doilies I wanted because they were closing...she then said I was still 47 cents short. I can still go to my car...no I had to take another thing off...it was embarrassing and slightly offending to a place that I know helps the homeless immensely. Thank God for the ones who keep up the Lord's work."
"I donated 4 large bags of men's clothing. All of it freshly laundered, organized, folded neatly, some still in the original packaging or with tags. Brand new items including shoes, (still in the boxes), and coats. The gal acted like she was doing me a huge favor to take it (Linda). Plus they don't give receipts apparently, (she didn't offer one). I called once I got home and asked about a receipt and the response was "typically we don't give receipts", meaning what? Will they if you ask? The response was "normally no". She did not give a clear answer. I understand these people are volunteers, but they still need to be pleasant and considerate. In the future I'll drive to Goodwill in Warrenton. I wanted to support the local community and do a good thing and honor my husband in the process. But I won't donate here again. Lesson learned the hard way."
"It's hard to rate a second hand shop since they can't really create or order inventory. But I've deducted 2 stars because there are one or two workers that are extremely nasty to customers. I say one or two because I had a problem a few times but I can't tell if it was the same woman each time that gave me a hard time. And after talking to some of the cashiers I know it's not just me that gets a bad vibe from them. Two cashiers I spoke to almost seemed to be in fear of at least one woman. I think these nasty women are managers or supervisors. All I can say is they have overbearing nasty attitudes with customers and workers alike. I'm also not thrilled because they allow people to hang out (sit and talk) in the small but vital furniture section so you can't really look around there, and sometimes those people give you an attitude if you come anywhere near them or seem as if you want to look at the furniture. I think these people who hang out there are part of the His Supper Table congregation, and perhaps they're also volunteers there on their day off, just socializing with each other. But it's supposed to be a second hand store and not a social club, and if they're going to give customers an attitude then you're doing a disservice to the organization and their goals. The selection is okay, typical second hand shop items. Prices can be a little high, but since it's a charitable organization I don't mind too much. They also have a small food bank, which is great. I've donated to it many times and I've also taken some fresh home grown veggies from it (a few potatoes and onions once). I no longer shop there or donate to them because of the nasty attitude I was given the last few times I was there to shop and to donate. I now prefer to shop and donate across the street at Reach Out (next to the Thai restaurant), and when I'm in the Astoria/Warrenton area I go to Goodwill. Selection and friendly staff are much better at Reach Out than at His Supper Table."
