Reviews
"I really hate posting this review, especially since they have so many vegan options, but the baked goods I had from here were the worst I have ever eaten. The cupcakes were extremely gummy and bland, the frosting on top was hard as a rock, the cookies were also rock hard as was the cookie sandwich. As far as the other food, the lentil soup we got was extremely spicy and not listed as such, and the biscuits and gravy was pretty meh. I hope this place steps it's game up because I love the menu, but the taste is worse than the food I ate in the military chow halls."
"I love that they have so many vegan/vegetarian options, especially biscuits and gravy (which I ordered)! It was pretty tasty, a little peppery for me but the biscuits were well made. I liked that it was a mushroom based gravy and it was a huge portion! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. It was like being at grandma's house."
"This is a Mount Vernon must! Gluten free, Vegan, non-GMO and delicious! Do yourself a favor and try the fresh baked breads, cookies, scones... the list goes on. 10% 60+ yrs discount."
"This is the first time I've eaten here and I loved it. I haven't had biscuits and gravy in 3 years since I found out I had Celiac's; it was so delicious. And the French toast was yummy with the berry compote. Thank you for making such great gluten free food!!"
"Yum! I don't need to care about whether their menu is gluten-free, I DO care whether their food tastes good - and it does!! We ordered the french toast and the (vegetarian) biscuits and gravy. The french toast was superb, with a light crust of visible egg on the bread, and a perfectly sweet (but not overly sweet) topping of blackberry sauce and honey. As for the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits weren't as fluffy as I would ideally prefer but I'll give them a pass since they tasted fine *and* because the gravy was vegetarian and very flavorful. We also bought two cookies to-go that are quite good - I really like their thin cookies. We live half an hour away but the eye surgery center I occasionally visit is in Mt Vernon so I plan to be a regular on the days when I'm in town."
