"Dr Kathuria was great with my son when he was a toddler. As my son became a teenager it became clear that she was not interested in handling my sons yearly visits. Once my son was in high school, visits to Dr Kathuria’s office were disappointing and emotional for my son. Dr. Kathuria was rude, short and blunt about my sons weight. Instead of being encouraging and supportive, she used scare tactics and disappointment. My son was a WIAA state qualifing swimmer, year round soccer player and a gamer. His weight would fluctuate often. Our last visit she walked out of the office without saying good-bye, instead she sent her nurse back to talk to us. My son never wanted to be alone in the office with Dr Kathuria because he was nervous around her. The last two visits Dr Kathuira mentioned my sons blood pressure was high, yet she never looked into the medications he was taking, she never ordered more tests to see if there issues, she never gave him ideas on how to monitor his food, medication and activity. Instead she said she disappointed in him and left the room! This year when Alex wanted to make his appointment for his yearly physical and med check, the nurse said Dr Kathuria no longer wanted him as a patient, stating he was too old. Aurora policy states their pediatricians see their patients through college. Alex was finishing his Freshman year at college. Alex is on ADHD and Asthma medications, we had to find another doctor quickly to avoid any lapse in his medications. When we did visit another doctor thru Aurora, the doctor didn’t know Alex had ADHD or asthma. The doctor wanted to order expensive tests to prove what we were saying. Only thing listed in Alex’s online file was medications previously prescribed, no diagnoses to build from. 19 years with the same office should have been more positive. We didn’t change sooner because we thought changing would be difficult with having to prove to another doctor that my son has ADHD and asthma. The medications are very controlled and a challenge to manage timing of refills, med checks and insurance. I wish Dr Kathuria well, I just hope she softens up with her teenage clients. Teens can be sensitive, even the boys!"
