"Dr. Varkey, regarding Eliquis I was taking, in a matter-of fact manner, told me, "go off the medication if you want to". I have been experiencing significant hair loss, and she said "it could be any of your medications but Eliquis does not have that side effect." There is a class action lawsuit against Pfizer (maker of Eliquis) that does not include "hair loss may happen". When I asked how I can tell if the blood clot in my left lung was gone, she stated "you have to ask your PCP to set you you up with a cardiologist ". I waited 2 months to see Dr. Varkey, and I could have just gone off of Eliquis, which, by the way, according to the information sheet accompanied with medication says "Do not go off of Eliquis abruptly which could have serious implications. Ask your physician first." Dr. Varkey is a professional, knowledgeable physician. Her lack of " bedside manner" or lack of empathy is startlingly. My eldest daughter accompanied me at this appointment and was equally stunned."
