Reviews of Summit Credit Union
"Mobile app and debit card were down all day Sunday And they never admitted it. Stuck out of state with no gas money. More like Base Camp Credit Union."
"Opened an account with Summit when I moved to Wisconsin so that I would have a local bank branch. I didn’t use the account much. I got an account statement in the mail at the beginning of the week with my balance, which wasn’t much, and then at the end of the week I got a letter saying my account has been closed because I’ve had a negative balance for over 45 days. When I called they informed me that my account balance had been negative by $.17 since September. It is now November and I did not get a single letter or call or email or any kind of notification that I had a negative balance. I also had money in my savings account that could’ve covered the negative balance of $.17. The woman on the phone told me their system is automated, which is why my account was closed with no notice. What a horrible insane system! Literally, no notice whatsoever that I had a negative balance of a few pennies and they close the account! All of my person to person customer service experiences have been positive. The people who work in the bank are friendly and helpful, but the amount of automation that has been entered into the system, I am sure at the cost of people’s jobs, is a detriment to the business. I will be closing my remaining account and banking elsewhere, and will never use a summit credit union ever again."
"Love Summit CU, but as a person with hearing aids, the kiosk was very difficult to understand what the teller at a remote site was saying. Since it would be impossible to hear at the driveup with the traffic noise, I went inside so I could see a teller but there aren't any at this site. It was very hard to makeout what she was saying on the kiosk speaker and not much better with the phone handset."
"Worst possible credit union - may as well be a predatory bank. Beyond terrible. After banking here 10 years & keeping constant balances on credit cards I didn’t need, just to increase my credit score, (never had less than 10k in the bank always had enough to pay off my credit cards, literally kept credit cards just to improve my access to a home loan for almost a decade) I wanted to buy a modest condo. I was Pre-approved for a loan here & at UWCW I had 25% down payment, steady job for a decade, etc. Payments lower than my rent , never missed never late on rent or credit payments in 8 years. & still had available credit & savings after putting 25% down. Worst decision of my life I chose Summit. After the pre-approval they approved me, I put down earnest money, closed out my lease at the place I was renting, reserved moving help, packed and planned to move. So excited. Then suddenly they withdrew my loan causing me to not only lose the condo but scramble for housing in a tough market with less than 2 months to look. (While working 2 jobs) Absolutely terrible unprofessional & cruel thing to do. The reason? My kid turned 18 so I recently (before being approved) upgraded my job (of 8 years) to one where I made MORE money & didn’t have to be around to drive my child to school & etc. They said this showed unstable work history - RIDICULOUS. I wasn’t fired I upgraded. I retained my second job (also of 8 years). I had multiple offers all for more pay than I was making at the old job with hours more suitable to parenting. I’m so sorry I ever did business here. Renting now, paying way too much, far more than my old place or the condo payments would have been, & trying to recover. Horrible, horrible horrible waste of time, money & patience. DO NOT TRUST SUMMIT TO BE STRAIGHT WITH YOU. There’s an impression that credit unions are less predatory and capriciously cruel than banks, NOT SUMMIT they are as bad as any bank. This place is the exact opposite of caring, or family oriented, they set my family back YEARS. Finding housing with not enough advance notice cost me so much money, I had to put my entire apartment of stuff into storage & pay for temporary housing which was extremely costly. Worst banking experience of my entire life Ruined my entire year, financially & emotionally devastating, horrible for my child’s mental health. It was just cruel, callous and ridiculous."
"I like summit credit union because they work with you to help you reach your financial goals. A great place to go if your looking for a house. They make you feel secure about your banking and great personal bankers to help."
