"Peaceful climb and great spot to enjoy the ocean. I love going on a walk here. Plenty of benches and people in the neighborhood are very friendly. Staircases are a great way to get a workout."
"Beautiful small beach, with rocks and tide pool areas on either side of the sandy area. Bathrooms are in decent shape for beach bathrooms. I would absolutely return here... My kids love the sand and swimming, and also love tide pool exploring!"
"Great spot for kids! A small beach with tide pools to explore, small calm waves, and a water run off that creates a river in sand. The tide pools have a good variety of marine life; crabs, hermit crabs, anemones and other animals. The rocks are relatively flat so it’s good for kids, we went holding my my 2 year-old’s hand and carrying my 10m old. I would recommend wearing shoes because the rocks are a bit rough and slippery in parts. The entrance to the beach is at the end of Poppy Ave and Ocean Ave. Find street parking, then walk down the hill on a nice wide, paved path straight to the beach. There is a lifeguard tower and a restroom with showers at this beach. Overall, it’s a great little beach to take the kids to see some nature. The only difficult part can be finding parking, but it’s beautiful walk down to the beach once you have. I would recommend this for families with kids! Tips: - Have someone drop you off at the path entrance and they can look for parking, or drive around/wait in the car. (We only explored for 20-30 min) - We called them when we were walking back up and they met us with the car right at the entrance. - Then we headed over to the Corona Del Mar State Beach and parked in the parking lot and spend the rest of the day at this larger beach. - Parking is $26 a day, if you plan to stay longer than 3 hours, paying for all day is cheaper. - We got to the tide pools at 11:30am in July and it was not covered by the tide at that time."
"Very nice place for a weekend getout. Watch for stones in beach especially kids. Overall kids will love it seeing all live creatures in ocean. Come early to secure parking at poppy ave."
"Hidden little beach with tide pools that can be explored for hours. Saw all kinds of sea life, sea urchins and i even saw a sea slug! Very rocky and some parts are slippery, so wear good shoes. There are bathrooms at the top of the drive way."
