"As soon as I arrived I felt unwelcomed as the Supervisor looked me up and down. She requested to know my children’s ages; I responded 6 y/o and 8 months. My 6 y/o will turn 7 next month and knows how to swim. She is an advanced swimmer ( took many classes at the YMCA) and also had her life-vest on. She demanded for my daughter to take off her life-vest to check if it is “life Coast Guard approved.” She said it was not approved although at the YMCA the coach confirmed it is approved. She then said she couldn’t enter because she is not yet 7 years old and cannot swim on her own. She said there needs to be 1 parent per child unless she takes a swimming test. I did not plan on taking my son inside the pool and expressed to her. She did not even take my 6/ y/o height (50” a requirement not age.) I requested a swimming test but was ignored. Yet another White American family who entered right after us with 4 children who obliquely appeared to be under the age of 7 with no life vests were able to go inside. I’ve never experienced this type of racism before."

"Loved it! An Olympic sized pool with wide lanes, crystal clear water and friendly staff. A fellow swimmer said, There's two rules here...don't inhale under water and don't bump your head!"

"Having an online sign up due to covid-19 was a wonderful idea however, I wish there were better regulations and rules in place to allow for better rotation of swimmers. Everyone from this pool community should have a chance to swim. I don't personally see the numbers, but hypothetically a few of the same people could monopolize all the time slots every week. It isn't ideal that a swimmer should have a reduction in how often they like to swim however, times are different. Fairness and kindness are still relevant."
